My mom loves cozy mysteries.  She has read all of Monica Ferris, Laura Childs, Cleo Coyle, Elaine Viets, Valerie Wolzien, Michele Scott and Jo Dereske. Anyone have any authors they can recommend that are similar.

I know there is a thread here already on this subject but to be honest it was so long I got overwhelmed.  Please forgive me for the repeat post!

I haven't read any of those.  However, I love Mary Daheim's Bed and Breakfast mysteries and Rett MacPherson's Torie O'Shea mysteries.  I've read a couple of the Agatha Raisin books and they are pretty entertaining too.

The first cozy mystery I ever read was Elaine Viets's Dead End Job series.  Both of her series are excellent and well-written.

Oops...I see now you listed Elaine Viets already.  I also like Leslie Meier and Joanne Fluke.

The Chocoholic Mysteries by JoAnna Carl are pretty cute. They start with 'The Chocolate Cat Caper'. There are currently 9 in the series but a tenth one comes out in hardcover in October. I also love The Bear Collector's Mystery series by John J. Lamb. There are five, and the series is finished. They are terribly engaging books.

My 2 personal favorites are the Aunt Dimity series by Nancy Atherton, and the Beatrix Potter Cottage Mysteries by Susan Wittig Albert.

I second Aunt Dimity. I blew through the first 5 books in a week.  Agatha Raisin by M.C. Beaton is also awesome.

I am now on book #2 of the "Bubbles" series of books, by Sarah Strohmeyer.  If you like the Stephanie Plum books, I think you would enjoy these.  They are fun reads!

Deborah Sharp writes a clever series featuring Mace Bauer and her mother; the first is Mama Does Time.

Alice,  I love that list of cozy mysteries you've built.  Lots of terrific ideas.

I'm building a list of the BEST mysteries ever and, though I love cozies, I'm having trouble thinking of many modern cozies that really stand out.

Would love additions or suggestions from those of you with broader knowledge of the Cozy.

That list is here. http://www.paperbackswap.com/Read-Mysteries/list/2405/

Hope you have some fun ideas..;-)

I recently fell into the Conrad Allen series "Murder on the ....... (ship name), beginning with the Lusitania (set in 1907).   Highly recommended.

Also recommend the "Grace and Favor" series by Jill Churchill.

I love the Aunt Dimity series by Nancy Atherton, and the Grace and Favor series by Jill Churchill is wonderful!  I highly recommend the Gaslight mystery series by Victoria Thompson, set in 1895 New York and the protag is a midwife who gets help from a detective. Wonderfully written!

The Mrs. Pollifax series by Dorothy Gilman is a favorite of mine as well.

I don't know if these count as "cozy" but has she tried reading the Cat Who...Series by Lilian Jackson Braun?
