Step by step analysis of Dan Brown's book and how it holds up to provable, documented historic facts.
n Cracking Da Vinci's Code, top Christian researchers tackle the ideas presented as historical data in the Doubleday novel The Da Vinci Code. James L. Garlow, Ph.D., and Peter Jones, Ph.D., address the growing controversies and the historical misconceptions that form the basis for much of Dan Brown's bestseller. In their easy-to-follow style, Garlow and Jones confront what many consider the novel's heresy with compelling evidence that supports Christianity's foundations and exposes the possible agenda behind the fiction. Cracking Da Vinci's Code will help readers understand the roots of the modern heresy found in The Da Vinci Code where it began, what it means and its possible hidden agenda!
For a really well done book on the subject, I would recommend Sharan Newman's book instead of this one. But what I think is being missed by most books bashing the Da Vinci Code is that the book is a NOVEL... FICTION folks! Take it as fabulous entertainment, and don't fret so much about underlying messages the author probably never intended.
A nice follow up read after reading the Da Vinci Code. It tries to separate the myths from the facts.
If you actually enjoyed The DaVinci Code, knowing it was a piece of fiction, this "companion" book will just really annoy you.
from back cover:
The controversy grows with every sale of the bestselling novel. Throughout the contemporary fictional storyline of The Davinci Code, author Dan Brown skillfully weaves "historical" assertions intended to shake the very foundations of Christianity...
*Was Jesus merely human and not divine?
*Did Jesus and Mary Magdalene marry and have children?
*Is there a Holy Grail? If so, what is it and where can it be found?
Cracking Da Vinci's Code is the long awaited answer to these and other questions that may have troubled you-or readers you know. Authors James L. Garlow and Peter Jones present compelling evidence that Brown's assertions are not only historically inaccurate, but may also contain a hidden agenda.
WONDERFUL!!! A MUST READ!!!
Helping you separate fact from fiction.
If you are looking for facts behind fiction this book outlines some fascinating material to consider. While we know that the general public doesn't believe everything it reads in print- it's nice to know the "whos, whats, wheres and shys".
Loved the information, provides a strong background and details.
Helped clean up some questions I had after reading the book.
I am not a Christian, so this book was not relavent to me . After forcing myself to read the first three chapters I am passing this book along.
This book takes Dan Brown's fictional story and holds it up to the light of historic facts. I found it quite interesting in that it disproves many of the rather bizarre claims about Christian practices. This book is for the person who wants to know the facts behind the fiction.
