I know I'm not the only Craig Johnson fan out there so I thought I'd share this tidbit. Mr Johnson shared a Walt Longmire short story with fans for the holidays and I fired off an e-mail to thank him. It is an EXCELLENT story! Anyhow, I just received a reply from him! He says that his next book, "The Dark Horse" is "in the can for the end of May" and he's got 8 chapters done for the book due out in 2010. Woohoo!! :)

Oooooohhhhh, Leanne! I've put Dark Horse on my 2009 "must-read" list. Cheryl, how dare you get ahead of me in the wishlist line?!  : )

I'm lucky :)  I'm just going to give him a try so since I'm behind everyone, this isn't bothering me.  Sometimes slow is good.

LOL, I will probably end up buying the darned thing anyway and then post it here. I don't mind doing that to support authors I really enjoy, especially if they aren't very well known. You guys who haven't tried him should...check bookcloseouts.com, they often have hardcover copies of his first few books there for cheap.

I sat on the WL here for his books for quite awhile and never went anywhere, so I actually listened to the first three of his books in audio download from my library...they're read by an excellent reader (George Guidall) and he sets the tone of the books so well!

I love this series.  Where can I read the short story at?

I don't believe the short story has been published. It is something that he does for the holidays. He actually writes a short story (this one was 12 pages long) and then sends it as an attachment to an e-mail. If you go to his website, you can sign-up for his "Post-Its" and other e-mails. Craig Johnson is very, very funny. :)
