Are any of you Craig Johnson fans? He's on tour to promote his latest Walt Longmire book. From his newsletter: I’m on tour, so check the ‘Tour of Duty’ portion of my website at www.craigallenjohnson.com to see where and when in Houston, Austin, New Orleans, Minneapolis, Chicago, Madison, Pittsburgh, NYC, Scottsdale, LA and Denver to start and then the Greater Northwest with Oklahoma City (The Spur Award) thrown in. |

I got the e-mail from him last night with this info. He always comes to "Murder By the Book" in Denver so I'll get to see him on June 13th. He is a real mensch with a booming voice. Seeing him in person is a treat. He's a born storyteller! |

I am going tomorrow night to Once Upon a Crime, our local Minneapolis mystery store...can't wait! I actually saw it on Library Thing, they have a section where they list local bookstore signings and it came up on my homepage there. I went....woooooo! I don't care what I'm doing that night, I'm dropping it to be there! LOL Luckily, I was free anyway. Cheryl |

Ooh, Cheryl! I hope you have a good time. Be sure to report back. Make sure to comment on Craig's new hat. He bought a new one for the tour and as he said, a new hat for a cowboy is like a new hairstyle for a woman. :) Last Edited on: 6/5/09 10:51 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Well, I ended up not going--for a couple of reasons. First, I got up this morning and found that A Dark Horse had been posted, accepted and sent to me sometime between yesterday afternoon and this morning. (I was #1 on the WL and was very reluctant to remove the book even though I'd planned on going to the signing--the way my life has been lately there was always a chance I wouldn't make it, and what are the odds it would have actually been posted?? Uh....LOL And my hubby's work hours have been cut again, so I really couldn't justify going to buy another copy brand new (signed or not!) when I have one on the way. Plus...sending me into a mystery bookstore and expecting me to only buy ONE book? Hah. The temptation would've been too great and I really couldn't afford the kind of spree I wanted. So it was really best I didn't go, but I am disappointed I didn't get to meet Craig. Next time for sure!! Cheryl |

Aw, bummer. Well, I completely understand abou the money issues. My DH was laid off at the beginning of May and we are tightening our belts, too. A mystery bookstore is WAY too much temptation! I'm sure he'll write another book! |

I went and saw Craig Johnson today. What a nice guy! He walked into the tiny (it's in an old Victorian house) bookstore and asked in his booming voice, "Did you start without me?". He regaled us with stories from his book tour in France (he is apparently very popular there) and then he read from his book. Cool stuff. When I went up to get my book signed he asked how to spell my name and then he said, "You smell nice". :-) I wish I had been fast enough to respond, "It's one of the benefits of indoor plumbing" but that one will have to wait. I can't wait to start on the book but I have a couple in line already to get through. Soon though! I see C.J. Box at the same bookstore next Friday. Wheeee! |

I'm glad you went and had a good time, LeeAnne! I'll have to really make an effort to get to his signing next time around here. Cheryl |

Glad you got to see him. I met him at Bouchercon last October. He was not at all what I expected. Great storyteller and a funny guy. |
