Let me start off by saying once again I LOVE THE BLACK DAGGER SERIES and when I heard J.R Ward was coming out with a semi spinoff in Covet I was jumping for joy... Until I read it. I didn't think it was great at all and at first I first i was surprised that The Warden could write something I didn't like. No way! I read the reviews on Amazon and it was very much a split decision, some loved it and some hated it. I want to have faith in The Warden (I mean come on she created my favorite vampire series of all time) but I just don't know if I can bring myself to read Crave. Part of me is saying "You started the series Yve, you HAVE TO finish." Yet.... I'm afraid it'll be as dreadful as Covet. What did you guys think?!? Loved it? Hated it? Should I bother? Help?

I am in the middle of reading Crave right now and loving it! I really really enjoyed Covet too.

In no way though is this series a spin off of the BDB books. She has stated that they are set in the same area and time, and we may see glimpses of some of the brothers every now and then but thats it. The Fallen Angels series is completely its own thing so you've got to go into it with that in mind. I can see how some would not enjoy the new series if they went into it thinking that it was going to be just like the BDB.

BTW: The BDB is one of my all time favorite series too!  smiley

BDB is my favorite too. I read Covet not realizing it had anything to do with the first series, I read it because she wrote it. I really liked it, and will read Crave, but I'm really hoping it's not as long. Good grief, it was really long.

I picked up Crave this morning at WalMart.  Now I'm sitting here thinking that I remember reading Covet but I don't remember the story line.  I wish they'd but the last chapter of the previous book in the front of the next book so people like me who suffer from CRS could refresh their memory.  LOL

I've got Crave right here in front of me--on Page 27:) I liked Covet but I like Angel/Fallen Angel stories in general. I was ready for a change from BDB--much as I love em, a break was needed--betcha J.R. Ward needed a break too:lol: I'm enjoying it so far--it is long (54 pages).

I tried to read Covet, I really did.  At the time I couldn't get into it and have had to move on to other books.  I still have it, I think, and will give it another chance.  I really like J.R. Ward's BDB and want to get into this series, but I was stumbling through it and couldn't follow/get into the storyline.  I don't know why.

I love BDB - and I loved both Covet and Crave.  But not as much, they are not keepers for me.  I do enjoy the story line, and somehow I liked the second one better because there was less set-up required, but for me that's true of a lot of series so I try to cut the author some slack in the first book.

I enjoyed Covet up until the very end.  It was too rushed.  Just picked up Crave but have 2 more books to read in another series before I start it.

I read Covet.  Covet is fine.   It's not a keeper for me.   It's better than other paranormal stories, but it's nowhere near as good as Ward's BDB series which is my all-time favorite paranormal series.  I expected more from Covet since it was J.R. Ward who wrote it.   I actually skimmed parts of Covet.  *gasp*  I can't believe I would ever do that with a book Ward wrote.  Still I am going to read Crave and any others in the Fallen Angels series to see if the stories get better.

I have a bad feeling that J.R. Ward is going to be the M. Night Shamylan of paranormal romance authors:)

Hey Yvonne,

I had never read another JR Ward book untill I picked up Covet.  I hated it.  I got crave in a swap so I decided to give it another chance and I have to say so far I love it.  The characters are so much better.  I just start cracking up at Isaac, and Grier and he are so much better together then the couple in the first book.   I've only got 50 more pages left but I think this is going to be a new fav of mine.  I had said in other place on here that I probably would never read another JR Ward book but now I think I will try her other seires out also.  Hope that helps you : )

Well I have Crave on my wishlist and have a couple of weeks until it's offered to me but I'm going to read it. I feel like I owe it to J.R to give it another shot.

Elizabeth, If you like vampire romance read the Black Dagger series. It is wonderfully addictive. LOOOOOOOVE your Vampire Diaries pics. heartDamonheart is my love. smiley

Elizabeth - Please, please get your hands on the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. smiley Get Dark Lover first because you need to know what happens there before you read the other stories in the series.  BDB is so incredible.   The only thing that annoys me about the BDB series is the urban slang, but if you can look beyond it, you'll find paranormal romance unlike anything else.

I just finished Crave yesterday.  I liked it...it was hard for me to get into since its been a year since I read Covet.  I actually put it down and read a few other books before really getting into it.  I hate have so much time between books in a series.  Anyway, both Covet and Crave were good books all in all but in no way as good as the BDB series.  I can (and have) read those book over and over again.  With Covet and Crave - there's just too much else out there to read to spend time re-reading these.  But I am thinking I will skim through them next year before the 3rd in the series is released so I don't feel lost like I did when I started Crave.

Am I the only one that is not annoyed by this? LOL. I have always enjoyed it. JR writes male characters and covers the whole male bonding thing better than anyone else I have ever read.

I am reading Crave now, and enjoying it. Its like military romantic suspense with paranormal elements. I can't remember the couple who were in Covet, but I remember Jim and the angels and all that. (Have all the BDB books, when will I start them?)

Since I can't remember a darn thing about Covet I checked it out from the library last night.  I'm going to reread (or at least skim) it before I start Crave.  Like my TBR pile isn't big enough!

Finished re-reading Covet last night.  Glad I did because I would have been so lost if I had just picked up Crave and started reading.  I KNOW I read Covet when it first came out but I didn't remember any of the details.  This just has me wanting Lover Unleashed to hurry up already!

I can't wait for Lover Unleashed.  I'm counting the days too.

The cover it great, isn't it?    My two favorite BDB covers are from Lover Avenged and Lover Mine.

I finished Crave over the weekend.  IMO it was better than Covet but no where as good as BDB, but then whatr is right?  LOL  I will read the next one when it comes out though.

I liked Covet. I'm only on book 4 of BDB.  I don't think I would have liked it if it was too close to BDB.  I hate it when authors start a new series and it's basically the old series with slight differences.

None of htem are keepers for me but then I don't keep anything.  There's just too many books out there that I haven't read yet  for me to want to reread.
