I introduced my MIL to the Outlander series she is now blind but through Books for the Blind she is able to "read again"  So she is in her kitchen with Davina Porters wonderful voice floating on the spring air and she is happy!  Now for Penman, Cornwell and Chadwick!  She said she has a crush on Jamie, I told her "Don't we all?"

I have introduced three friends to that series and it consumed them and my books. Everyone loves Jamie. I wish she would do a prequel to the first book.

OK -- enough already -- this summer I will devote to Jamie (boy, he better be worth it!).

Ditto, Deb!  Are we the last two HF lovers on the planet that haven't read any of the "Outlander" series? I simply must dive into the world of Gabaldon. I think I'll read her and Michener this summer.

Only William Marshal tops Jamie on my Hunks in History list.

yep, agree....am currently reading the latest, An Echo in the Bone, and I keep having to remind myself that Jamie can't possibly still look like that first image of him I formed when I read Outlander .... but it's hard!

Ok, Shelley -- it's you and me and Jamie this summer.

(I'm just trying to ignore Misfit -- although I do have Greatest Knight and Scarlet Lion sitting atop one of my several TBR piles -- and I have no doubt that Misfit knows her Hunks -- so it could be the summer of historical hunks!)

I think an" Historical Hunks" summer is a great idea.

"Historical Hunks" sounds like a great category for next year's HF Reading Challenge.  I haven't read any Outlander either.  But I wil NOT start another series until I finish some of the ones I've already started.  Well...except...I have committed to start my flirtation with Uhtred sometime this year....and if Shelley is to be believed, that's more hunk than I can handle for a while!

I wish she would do a prequel to the first book.

It's not exactly a prequel, but the graphic novel called The Exile is Outlander told from Jamie's point of view. It's due out late this year, I think.

Misfit, I tell ya what. I'd like to be able to choose between Jamie and William. Eye candy, I tell you. I could look for days and days and, well, just drag it out deciding, yeah?

IMO, Uhtred is definitely the hunk of all hunks.  I'm sure I'll like Jamie, but no man can top Uhtred, IMO.  I bet Jamie's all romantic and sweet or something.  I like me a man's man like Uhtred!

I have not yet read any of Outlander but agree with Misfit, once you've read Greatest Knight and Scarlet Lion you'll be hooked too!

My husband laughs that I'm more in love with a bunch of dead guys then I am with him, totally wrong of course but between William Marshall and Edward the Black Prince I must say if it wasn't for my husband I'ld be alone forever reading about them.

Lol, what's been going on in my absense. Once you all are in love with William then you must read A Place Beyond Courage and Williams father. Which reminds me, there's an awesome little story to tell about that but I can't share it......

(that was mean, wasn't it?)

Sorry, I just had second thoughts and was coming back to edit the post but I'm too late. Not my story to tell but d*** it's a good 'un.

John was a hottie though, look at all those kids they made.  I suppose by next month or so I'll be in love again with Roger's son who marries Mahelt. His name escapes me at the moment.

Ahh me ... Jamie will more than live up to all expectations! And, all in a Scottish accent, wearing a Scottish kilt! Sigh!

But, remember, as my daughter, who is a complete Jamie devotee said, "I think I love Uhtred even better than Jamie!"

As for me, I love Jamie, love Uhtred, love William the Marshal & love his father John. As Cathy alluded to, the love story between John & Sybilla is one to be savored! Good thing we are not forced to choose and be true to our fictional leading men!

ahhh ...

Kelly

Isn't that the truth, Kelly!!

My hubby, too, teases me about loving dead and fictional man. He looked over my shoulder just now to see what I said I was going to finish before going to bed, and he added "or both".  My instant reply: "NO!  He's NOT dead and don't you dare say he's dead! There's no question of the reference: Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod, Highlander. (HL3 be damned.)

Ok -- I'm sure this is completely inappropriate but Kelly's reference to a Scottish kilt made me think of this old joke that, of course, I have to share with you all:

A Scotsman was out having a very good time on Saturday night, sampling the local product. On the way home, he passed out along the lane. Later in the night, a wind came and blew his kilt up to his waist. Well, we all know what a real Scotsman wears under his kilt.

Early Sunday morning the two town spinsters came by and saw him laying there. "Prudence, have you ever seen such a sight?" one exclaimed. "No I haven't, Purity. He deserves some kind of punishment," as she searched her bag. "Here this should do it." And she tied a ribbon around his member. "Serves him right," they huffed and continued on to church.

Later the Scotsman awoke and looked down at his member, saw the bright blue ribbon tied around it, and said "Aye Laddie, I dunna know where ye been, but ye won ferst prize!"

I must be the only person who did not like Outlander.

Jamie has nothing on Uhtred IMHO :-)

I did marry a Scotsman though, and he trumps Uhtred of course . . .
