I am an artist and am looking for a novel with characters that are artistic. I don't want a "how-to" but a story with characters that I can relate to, that might inspire me. I also love books that illustrate the story with detail, instead of just "telling". Any suggestions?

Try Lydia Cassatt Reading the Morning Paper. Lydia Cassatt is the sister of Mary Cassatt and takes place in Paris. Fabulous read!

Hi, Staci! If you go to www.bpl.org (Boston Public Library), find the Catalog and key in "artists--fiction" under Subject, you will pull up a list of around 188 books. You can sort the books by date of publication, etc. I recognize the names of some of the authors of these books, but I haven't read any looking at the first few pages of the listing. Give it a try and I hope that you find inspiration! Best regards, Elaine
