I had to mark a book RWAP by sender today.  In the comment box, I described the unpostable condition and that I was not asking for the credit back as I was going to read and keep the book.  I also let them know that I was going to mark the matter resolved.  When I logged in a moment ago, I noticed that I had 1 extra credit more than I did before.  I went to the credit registry and see that she did in fact refund me a credit.  SO, my question is, since I stated that I wasn't asking for a credit back and she did anyways, should I give her credit back or keep it?

I would keep it, thank her and mark it resolved.  She knew it was not postable; it sounds like that to me so she refunded the credit as she should have.  The end.

I agree with Priscilla.  It could be that it was an honest mistake and she wants to make it right.  I would want to do that myself!

I would just thank her and move on.  I'm sure she felt badly and wanted to make it right.  I've gotten into a few exchanges like that where it turns into a politeness fesitval - I apolgise for making a fuss and say they can keep the credit, they apologise and insist on returning it, and it goes back and forth a few times until I realize it's become ridiculous.

I've had the same thing happen to me and I just kept it. Make sure you go into your transacion archive and mark it as resolved if you haven't already though.

So glad you asked Jennifer, I've been in the same situation and it confused me also.

Maybe she's like me.  I don't send books that aren't postable, unless one gets by me in some way.  If you say I sent you an unpostable, then I'll take your word for it.  I will ALWAYS give back the credit unless I know 100% that it was postable.  It's one credit and I've been known to be wrong.  You don't have to ask me for a credit, I'm giving it if you aren't happy with the book.

I think it was very gracious of her and I would just thank her for returning the credit.  That is the type of member I enjoy swapping with, one who takes the rules seriously and believes other members are honorable.

If I had a member mark a book I sent RWAP and  I was not 100% positive it met swapping conditions,  I would automatically return the credit, even if they said they were not asking for the credit back.   Everyone can make mistakes and unless the damage is glaring, they may have not noticed the damage when sending.

It was very nice of you not to ask for your credit back, but she obliviously wanted to make it right.  I think it refreshing. JMO.

Jennifer: Keep the credit. The member was obviously adhering to the spirit of this site.

If you feel weird about keeping the credit, then donate it back to the site.

I'd just thank her and wish her a lovely week.  Because you were nice about it, could be why she returned the credit. Manners go a long way :)
