I Have a ton of BM credits and would like to offer some up in exchange for PBS credits.  I also have ReadersUnited credits, Swapopolis credits, and WhatsOnMyBookshelf credits for anyone who wants to try out those sties.  Thanks!

PBS does not allow credits from other sites to be swapped here. The only thing that can be offered for PBS credits is books or $$. Here is Robert's (site owner) post on the subject:

All right, here is the PBS Team word on this.

You can sell your PBS Credits here. [ ]

You cannot sell anything else.

That means that [ ], you could have posted "Anyone want to sell me some credits?  Contact me by PM if so," and then in Personal Messages explained what you are willing to pay.  But you should not post a topic selling anything for credits.  If in PM negotiations anyone was willing to accept the currency of another site for PBS credits, then you could make the exchange.

It is a small point, but there you have it.  Don't hawk your wares (whatever they are) for credits.   But you can ask if anyone is looking to sell credits, and negotiate payment with them privately.

We are sure someone else will find a way to do the above inappropriately somehow, and we will hear from members again asking us to clarify, but for now this is the ruling.

Thank you.  I did not know it was not allowed here since others sites allow it and I mostly trade there.  Thank you again for setting me straight.

I knew about that in the Rules and all but the way I understand it is that when people offer to trade Book Mooch credits for PBS credits they do it this way...The person offering BM credits buddies the amount of credits to, we'll say, me for example, me on BM. Then I in return would buddy the amount of PBS credits to you on PBS. At least that's the way I understand people are doing it and I've seen several people offer to trade BM credits for PBS credits. Say for example you wanted to trade me 2 BM credits for 1 PBS credit. You would then buddy me the 2 BM credits on bookmooch.com and then I in return would buddy you the 1 PBS credit here on PBS site. Hope that helped.

Yes. That's how I understand it to be done and how I handled it on a recent FR to BM credit swap. I was hoping to do the same here to move some BM to PBS w/o having to pay money.  While I don't quite understand Ropbert's way of doing things since I only see it as a way to keep crdits flowing regardless of who is in actual possession of the credirts, I will abide by his post and repost this in a different manner and handle all payments negotiations privately.   Thanks!

You're welcome for the explanation Jill. I just didn't see anything wrong with doing it that way seeing as how plenty of others do it a lot and from the way I understood the rule up there, it means anything other than books, like anything else you may have laying around your house. But it doesn't actually say anything about trading credits the way that you were wanting to do, that is unless I missed that part somewhere. After all, you aren't posting saying I would like to sell such and such to you for such and such credits. It's just trading credits, so I'm not sure what to make of it but it would be interesting to have an exact explanation on that subject from PBS.

You can trade them, you just can't outright state what you want to do, you have negotiate it off the forums in private communcation.

have an exact explanation on that subject from PBS. - that is an exact explanation from PBS (you can't get any higher up than the owners). The original post he responded to was pretty much  the same as this one. A big ol' fight broke out on what the rules say can be traded on PBS and Richard came in and posted PBS's stance on it.

Hopefully you will find someone on those sites to trade with. I think you're more likely to find someone who would actually want them on the other sites, the people here are more likely to prefer PBS credits. Can't fathom why anyone would want to take a perfectly fine PBS credit and trade it for a BM credit, but there are a lot of crazies out there :)

Thanks Melanie for clearing that up. Makes perfect since the way you put it and I understand completely. I was just baffled or confused I guess with the way that I've seen so many wanting to trade credits like that. Thanks for the info, appreciate it.
