I found this book to be a very good mystery. Has a terrific storyline and well developed characters. As much as I like suspense, I was getting tired of the serial killers genre in fiction. But in this book, the two protagonists, Detective Rachel Siegel and psychic Kenneth Bennett are in the foreground. Yet the serial killer of children is always there in the background creating tension for the protagonists, others involved in the investigation and the California town where the murderer operates. I didn't have to read a lot of mumbo-jumbo from some psychotic killer or read too much about what was done to his victims which had a minimal of blood. The two heroes were realistic and interesting enough in themselves. It's their reactions to the serial killer's actions that predominates the book. There are many minor characters who flesh out the damage this killer is able to inflict on a town. All in all, a satisfying book.
