A hilarious writer, she is wonderful. Great reading. Fun characters, will read more and see how they develop. Fun stuff. A good laugh in several places.

I've read other books in this series, so it was good to discover the beginnings. Magdalena has such a humorous way of saying and doing things.

It was a struggle to get through this book. I loathed the main character (who is a broadly drawn, ridiculous stereotype who'd be an offense to Mennonites if they read mystery novels!) and thought the whole thing was sloppily plotted, poorly written, and needed a good editor. Even the recipes didn't appeal to me!
