A very good book! The story takes place in Mexico, and once again, Linda Howard proves that she can sound like she knows what she's talking about! Gritty, and real, in the choice of the place of the story. Her main characters are likeable and mysterious and dangerous, not necessarily in that order! A story about a woman whose baby is stolen from her and her life's goal becomes to not only find her child, but find other lost children. The seductive, scary character, Diaz, who ends up helping her promises to make your skin shiver with goosebumps from fear and delight! All in all, I give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Still, if you havent read Linda Howards "Kiss Me While I Sleep", you havent read her best work. Try it out!!!

Fueled by an obsession to fill the void in other people's lives, Milla Edge finds lost children--all the while trying to outrun the brutal emotions stemming from a tragedy in her past. Traveling to a small village in Mexico on a reliable tip, Milla begins to uncover the dire fate of countless children who have disappeared in the labyrinth of a sinister baby-smuggling ring. The key to nailing down the organization may rest with an elusive one-eyed man. As Milla's search for him intensifies, the mission becomes more treacherous. For the ring is part of something far larger and more dangerous, raching the highest echelons of power. Racing into peril, Milla suddenly finds herself the hunted--in the crosshairs of an invisible, lethal assassin who aims to silence her permanently.

I would say this one, hands down, is my favorite of all Linda Howard's. The hero is intriguing, and the main character, with all her flaws, attributes and motivation, is just riveting. It is a very touching, suspenseful and, at times, very painful story. The ending will blow you away. I couldn't get through this one fast enough, and then was sad when it was over.

This is one of the most emotionally riveting books I've ever read. The lead male character, Diaz, is absolutely fascinating. The culmination of the story is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. To me, this is Linda Howard's most powerful story ever.
