Anyone has actually received a book/package that was opened and inspected by USPS?  Just before Christmas, I received a book that was opened and inspected.  There were 2 small and almost indiscernible stamps that said "opened for inspection".  Inside the package was a half sheet of paper with a "official" stamp.  IMO they could have re-tapped/wrapped a little better, but the book arrived safely.

Not for a long time, but mine came with the stamp on the outside, but no paper inside--I couldn't even tell it had been opened!

Yes, but it has been a while.  My PO guy told me that if they can't tell if it's books in the package it's more likely to be opened.  Not sure if it's true or not, but would make sense.

I received one.  I have received several of the plastic zip baggie apologies.  The "we are so sorry we destroyed your book" Xeroxes.

I just hope that by having the PBS logo on the package, that the regular inspectors trust it is a book.  (The PBS logo does not seem to help in Wisconsin.)

I had some books sent to my DGD and they were opened.  Again, they were from Wisconsin, so wonder if that's why, but other than that I've not had anyone say they had any books received from me opened for inspection, nor have I received any that were opened.  Pat

Well, being from PBS doesn't assure the package is truly media.  I just rec'd a "book" that turned out to be a deck of cards!!  I PM'd the bigwigs, but haven't heard back AND posted in the "suspicious" item forum.

For a whole year now, residents of Wisconsin (I lived on the border with IL half my life) have been saying in the forums that their packages get opened alot or they get threatened to be inspected when they go to PO to mail. I have shipped packages from other states to there since moving, but haven't heard that anything arrived with the inspection stamp nor showing signs of being opened.

Sounds about right Jennifer, the insert and the stamp.  If you feel the re-wrap was inadequate you should report it.

So far, I haven't received any packages that were inspected.  Seems to run in regions...?

I've never known of this to happen but I've wondered if it ever could!  I've been told numerous times at the PO that media mail can be opened but I didn't know if it really ever happened.
