I just ordered a book. When I clicked on the order more from this member, I found the above message. No books on her shelf and no books on her wishlist! How come this book came up, and now what will happen? Will I have to wait the whole 5 days when this member looks like their account should be closed? There are no holds nor privacy controls used.

*** Update*** I think my suspicions were correct as this book timed out. I think this was an abandoned account.

If you ordered the book, it will take it off of her bookshelf.

It's possible that this person is either new, or they only post a book when they can afford to mail it out.

Unless you want to cancel the request yourself, you will have to wait for the request to time out.

If there's a dash instead of a zero in the bookshelf count, it means the bookshelf is not available for public viewing.

This member has no profile.

When I click on her bookshelf, this is what it says: This member currently does not have any books posted in the system.

Her wishlist says:    This member currently does not have any books on her wishlist.

I have never seen this before. It looks to me as if the book I requested was the last book left on her shelf as she abandoned her account months ago. After someone requests a book and it times out, the book is taken off the sender's shelf. I think my book was the last one to go off. I'm just surprised that it goes all the way to the last book before the team looks into an account. If this is truly the case, then when will the team actually look at this account?

was the book you requested a FIFO book or a WL book?

It depends, Connie. She may have had 5 books left on her shelf, had four of them requested over the past few months, sent them just fine and you got the last one. If she does not respond to your request, the team won't really do anything since it might have been the first time she didn't respond. You just don't know, so it's kind of jumping the gun to make snap judgments. Maybe she posts primarily wishlisted books so doesn't have much of a bookshelf. At any rate, if it is a FIFO book and she doesn't respond it should move on to the next person and you'll have done your part to weed the inactive ones out. :)

I apolize for making a snap judgment on this one without just waiting to see what happens. I really don't know what happened here. I agree with what you said Cheryl and will let it just sit and wait. I guess I just jumped to conclusions because I've never seen such an empty account before, no profile, no books on bookshelf, no wishlist books, no reviews, nothing.

Could be someone  in the middle of a move like me!  Most of my shelf is in boxes in storage right now so they are on hold. Since we're building a home instead of buying one ready to move into (about same wait since many homes for sale are short sales due to foreclosures--they can build new quicker than banks are releasing the foreclosed houses!), I only have on my shelf what I have gotten since arriving at my temp housing.  However, I have gone to used book sales recently  specifically to get  books to post so my shelf wouldn't be empty while I wait to move in.

Just an FYI - they don't let it go that far. I believe it is only one or two missed requests and the account is placed on Hold. If the account had not been active for a while they would act quite promptly on it. An empty account they probably would not bother with, but they do act more quickly these days on missed transactions.

Melanie's right -- no response to two consecutive transactions puts an account on hold.

I posted a WL book recently and got the same message.  This Person Has No Books Posted and This Person Has No Books On Their WL.  I thought it would time out. But no it was accepted and marked received promptly.  I figure it was probably someone who isn't super active on PBS. Probably only posts WL books when they need credits and doesn't read enough to build up a huge WL.  But still does the occassional trade.

I have a ton of credits and I was thinking of setting up an account for my mom and buddying her credits.   She would just return any books to me to list on my shelf.  She doesn't want to have to mail stuff but lives in the country with a crappy library.

She would appear this way then - no book shelf.

Connie, I had the exact thing happen a little while ago--FIFO order to someone with no shelf and no WL.  I got the book just fine!

You never know!  My mom has an account here and has mailed out a few books, but only has 4 books on her shelf (which I posted for her!) and nothing wishlisted.  When/if those ever get requested, she'll mail them out, but once they're gone, she'll probably just make me buddy her credits when she wants to order something :-b

I've seen this several times. Sometimes on books I order and sometimes from those ordering books from me. I like to check out the sender or the requestor out of curiosity and a lot of the time they have no books on their shelf or WL. Or they have a bookshelf and no WL or a WL and no bookshelf. It seems to vary quite a bit depending on the member. The site can be used in so many different ways that I just assume they're not using it the exact same way I do.

Thanks for the different senarios I never thought of. They all make sense. I just thought of another one. She may be more active in the sister site of CDs and DVDs and occasionally puts books on her shelf on here.

but right now I have only one book on my Bookshelf, and nothing on my Wish List. I am focusing on WL books exclusively so that I don't have books staying around the house.

I just ordered a book and when I looked at the person's shelf, they only had 2 books on it.  I'm thinking that this is going to time out but it didn't.  Took them a day to check it but they mailed it Monday and I received it Wednesday, from Ga.
