It pains me to write a less-than-glowing review of this ninth book in the Wesley Peterson detective series, but here it goes. This series is set in the fictional town of Tradmouth in Devon, England, and the main character is DI Wesley Peterson, who is an archaeologist by education. I really enjoyed the mystery in this story, where Wesley and crew are re-investigating a twenty year-old massacre of an entire family. One of the things I live about this series is the background story of Wesley's family and his mates, but in this one, all the whining from Wesley's wife Pam about how much is working really detracted from the story. I'm working hard to read this series in order, and I've got my fingers crossed that Pam will be in a much happier marital place in the next one in this series.
