If I am sending a book (not off my shelf) and I use the Custom DC, but it weighs over 13 oz, can I still use stamps and drop in a box?  Or, do I still have to go to PO?  I am trying to find a way around going to the PO, but I didn't realize I couldn't do DC plus postage.

Am I making sense?

I have a 2 lb package, and I bought a custom DC but now I have to affix postage.  If I use Stamps, does this DC get me "around" the 13 oz rule, or do I still have to go to PO?

Anything over 13 oz with only stamps for the postage must go to the PO. Custom DC is just a bar code and the amount you pay is just the PBS fee, no postage is actually paid so it will not get you around the rule.

I think you could use the mail to a friend option, and get printable postage. Post a dummy book to your shelf to use, pick one of the Grisham books that have a ton in the system or something.  You could also try PayPal or the USPS site for online postage.

you'll have to go to the PO.  but if you go and use the APC to buy a stamp of the right amount (postage plus the .18 for the DC), you can drop it in the box there and not have to go to the counter, so you can go any time.

You can print a label with delivery confirmation and pay postage through paypal.

www.paypal.com/us/cql-bin/webscr

The USPS will only allow you to print express and priority mail labels with postage. You can download a program that allows you to print labels for all classes of mail but it is without postage unless you use another vendor to pay the postage (example endicia).

You can print the DC label and pay for that, then add stamps for the remainder. If ANY of the postage affixed is traceable postage then you can drop it in a box, or leave it in your mailbox.

You can print the DC label and pay for that - Not on PBS, and I don't think any other traceable postage lets you pay for part of the postage, it is all or nothing. The DC payment is only fees here, it is not postage, you still need to pay the .18 postage for eDC.

I just post the book (or a dummy book if it's WL) and use the mail to a friend option.  It'll let you print postage that way. This is what I do for BOB requests and Games so I don't have to go to the PO and stand in line.
