This was one of the early Dirk Pitt adventures and it was great fun. Some of the more recent Cussler stories such as "Lost Empire" pale in comparison. Cyclops had it all - a treasure hunt story, a hidden colony on the moon, a secret Russian station on an island off Cuba, and a nasty Russian plot to kill Castro and take over Cuba. Although this story was definitely dated (the Russians are still the bad guys), this was a non-stop action adventurer. I really enjoyed it!

If you're looking for a cheesy action-adventure with a typically perfect male hero this book is it.

This is just one of a series written by Clive Cussler and I have always found them to be very intertaining and have read the entire series. Always hoping for another to be added to the series.

Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt series is lots of fun and excitement with a sly twist or two thrown in for good measure. You can get in a lot of travel reading his books without having to leave the house.

A wealthy American financier disappears on a

treasure hunt in an antique blimp. From Cuban

waters, the blimp drifts toward Florida with a

crew of dead men -- Soviet cosmonauts.

DIRK PITT discovers a shocking scheme: a

covert group of U.S. industrialists has put a colony

on the moon, a secret base they will defend at any

cost. Threatened in space, the Russians are about

to strike a savage blow in Cuba -- and only

DIRK PITT can stop them. From a Cuban torture

chamber to the cold ocean depths, Pitt is racing

to defuse an international conspiracy that

threatens to shatter the earth!

It began with a dead crew floating in a millionaire's antique blimp. It escalated into a hijjacking of the U.S. president-and a call to Dirk Pitt"

Cussler will not disappoint with this book! Wrote is 1986 and is still revelent in todays world. One of his best. Good action, plot interesting as always. Love Dirk Pitt, and you know he is going to survive, but in this one I thought he was a goner many times.
A good read.
