I guess I'm completely out of black ink.  I just printed off five labels.  Four of them came out in RED.

Will they still be able to scan them if they are in red?

Help me please....I need to mail these books in the morning.  THANKS>

I don't think the color color would have anything to do with it.  You are fine and the packages can be mailed as planned!  Go buy some ink!!

Jennifer, depending on the kind of scanner used, sometimes faded or red ink is a problem. But if the carrier has one of the new scanners, there won't be any problem at all. I was able to scan a DC label on a package the other day that was wrinkled! And I also had one that was faded that was also no problem.

Red ink might be a problem.  One of my libraries was having problems with the scanners at the circulation desk.   The scanners use a red light to read the barcode.  After I suggested a filter on the recessed lighting directly above the scanner everything worked fine.

If there is a problem, USPS can always enter the DC by hand (if you ask nicely enough).

She had to enter them all by hand.  I felt so bad.

In the future, I'll only purchase the DC if I have ink. LOL

That's what I was afraid of, Jennifer. I think Steve has said that the POS scanners aren't as powerful as the new carrier scanners.

I'm figuring that will be the only time they get scanned, is at the PO.

No, they should be scanned at delivery, too.

Whoops.....perhaps the color does make a difference???!  I didn't think of the scanner at the PO.  I hope you got out to buy some ink!

I hate addressing labels by hand!

the carrier can always enter the numbers manually... I usually swear when I have to do that! ;) Don't worry, the confirmation can be done! :)
