When the DC scan says "Missent" what does this mean...it does not list information for this scan on the FAQ page?

Let me say here that the recipient let me know after the package was mailed that the address was not a correct one, so I know that already.  But, the scan doesn't say "forwarded."  I was hoping the package would be returned to me.

It was "missent" to a post office other than the one it was addressed to. It will get to the correct post office in a day or two. if the address is not correct, they will then forward it or send it back to you once it gets to the office it was addressed to.

THe scan wouldn't say forwarded at this point, because that office has no idea that as address for another office is wrong in some way.

Ok Thanks....just wish there was some way I could get it just sent back to me but, they tell me that can't happen.  It was suppose to have set at the original post office for 15 days and then come back to me...now I guess that entire wait time starts all over again!!!

that makes no sense. the 15 day holding period is if the addressee is notified of a package and does not pick it up or arrange to have it redelivered. If they don't live at that address any longer, it will be forwarded to their new address if they moved 12 months ago or less. If they moved more than a year ago it will be sent back to you.

You CAN go in at try to do a recall of mail and have it sent back to you.

It looks like it is coming back to you, but was sent to the wrong post office on its way back. on the 24th it got to the address you sent it to, then 4 days later, for some reason, they figured out the addressee was no longer at that address so it was sent back to the sender-you. it would not get an "addressee unknown" scan if it was forwarded to their correct address.

It is very possible that it went back to post office 70810 on the 30th and they scanned it Missent. The system is designed to get the item to the addressee, so sometimes when it is being returned, it instead gets kicked back to the addressee's address instead.

They don't forward media mail. It usually goes back to the sender with media mail postage due for the return trip.
