Before, I just highlighted and copied, but now I when I do that and paste here, it makes me paste into little box and it jumbles everything up most of the time or cuts things off. Can someone please pm me and explain how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Pam

What works for me is to copy and paste as usual.  Then click over the link you just put in.  It'll show a box.  Click on the little eraser (furthest right in the toolbar above that starts with the floppy disc.)  That takes all the "formatting" and you're left with just the info you've put there.

After I've used eraser:

Water for Elephants Author: Sara Gruen Now I can put down 156 wishers or whatever.

Before I've used eraser (I cannot add info):

I use the like globe like "Link" feature in the editing toolbar.  I'll write the name, highlight it, then click on the blue green globe icon.  It will bring up a box for me to paste the address in.

You can open or close the toolbar using the small triangle above the text box.

I tried that Emily, but when I click on link it doesn't do anything. I think I will just stick to copy and paste and then remove formatting like Ani suggested. :)

Thanks all!

I have the same problem, I used to do links the way Emily suggested but since I changed computers and now use Windows 7 and IE 8, it doesn't work anymore. It's annoying, I want to be helpful and post links but can't work out why I now don't seem to be able tofrown

Emma, I also now use Windows 7 and my browser is IE. The way Emily does it is also how I create a link.  You copy as usual. Then you enter whatever text you want to in your post a reply box (for example like right now I could enter the word Link or I just usually enter the books name like Honolulu. I then highlight the word Honolulu, go the the blue/greenish globe - which when you put your cursor over it, will say Link. Click on the globe, window will open, and click in the box that says URL, the right click and paste and hit OK,  this will make the word Honolulu turn blue and underline.  This has now created your link.  I also try to create links to books that I want to recommend etc.  It is so helpful and takes so little time.  Please feel free to pm me if you have any questions.  I am not a computer guru but maybe I could help.

This might help - I use firefox.

Find the link you wish to use, open it up in another window.    Go back to this text box and click on the 1st globe with the intact link in it.  Paste your URL in the url box.  Then hit your HOME button on your keyboard.  This takes out the HTTP part of the link you just pasted.  THEN hit the OK button.

Oh by the way, how do you add a picture of a book cover to your post?

Thanks Jane and Sherri, that still sounds like what I'm doing but they only turn blue and not underlined. Maybe the http bit is the problem, do I have leave that out when I paste? For example, I copy the whole thing http://www.paperbackswap.com/Lightning-Thief-Percy-Rick-Riordan/book/0786838655/ and put it in the url link box.

Apologies to anyone who doesn't think this should be in the L & R forum but I'd really like to try to work out what I'm doing wrong and the people here are very helpful.
