Winner of the National Book Award, and includes a Reading Group Guide inside; excellent for book discussion groups. A "real life" story about families, love, struggles and rewards.

Well I read it because it got National Book Award. Fortunately it was a short book or I wouldn't have read it all. I did not like or understand most of the characters in the book and found the reading extremely tedious, so I'm only giving it 3 stars, which seems to be the average of everyone else here reviewing it.
