Taken Blew into the local FOL to try and find some westerns for Daddy (who is back in the hospital) until all of those wonderful offers start rolling in and found a pristine copy of an ARC titled: The Mysterious Edge of the Heroic World :: (It was only fifty cents, so of course I grabbed it, thinking I could give it to my daughter for her classroom library which she provides for her students if it was an acceptable book....) Ran to the house, washed Daddy's pj's, grabbed the half a watermelon out of the fridge, scooped it out, put it in a bowl, re-packed the suitcase, drug the trash bins to the road, ran and got the suitcase, my purse, the books, the mail and the watermelon, jumped in the car, headed back to the hospital, (you know where this is headed by now, right?) FINALLY found a parking space ('cause I refuse to use the handicap sticker when it is just me in the car), jumped out of the car, trundled to the elevator, and didn't have a free hand to push the 'up' button. Soooooo....had the bright idea of just setting the bowl of watermelon on top of my purse, which was sitting in the open-topped suitcase, wheeled it into the elevator, and triumphantly pushed the button for the third floor.
Did you realize that when you roll a suitcase that it tilts toward you? And that whatever is in that suitcase sorta leans with it? Anyone want an ARC of a pretty good book that has a lingering smell of watermelon, and a pretty pink stain on the last half of the book? I will send it along with any request from my shelf.......
