Xxxxxx L.  to  Tammie F. (scubagirl13) - Greenwich, CT 2/9/2011 @ 8:49 AM ET Tammie, Wow, first you report me for sending you a damaged book and then you report me for being unresponsive. Very sorry but I was out of town over the weekend. Sure wish you could have just come to me if you were unhappy with a book I had sent you instead of feeling the need to "report" me, especially since I was up front about the torn spot in the cover. The truth is that I don't remember the pages being torn on the inside at all. Not calling you a liar but I am just saying I didn't notice (so obviously it didn't bother me.) This is exactly the way the book was sent to me just a couple of weeks ago and I thought nothing of it so perhaps you might be a little too picky for a used book club and you should put more stipulations under your criteria such as the fact that books need to be in new condition. I will be happy to refund your credit when I receive the book back. XXXXXX Ugh... This is the message I received today after marking a bookRWAP last week. While I had agreed that the torn cover was fine....she never mentioned the chewed page corners right in the same area. It always amazes me that in every discussion about an unhappy receiver of a rwap the person gets called " too picky". In this case, I think she honestly knew the book was unpostable but left out some of the damage info so that she wouldn't get stuck with the book after recording ot from someone else. That is so wrong. You can also see that she wants me to return the book before refunding my original credit.....I politely noted the PBS info on that plus the shipping credit. Not holding my breath on getting my credit or a shipping credit anytime soon! Oh well......all the good swaps make a few lousy ones worthwhile.

OK but this doesn't fix the other post that is still out there.  YOu can edit your original posts. You don't need to start a new thread.

This was my original rwap complaint filed on the fourth....I think I tried to be polite about it. I marked it as unresponsive this morning...which is Thursday....and she replied within minutes. So even if she was away for the weekend she still had a few days since. The member to whom you shipped your book 'Her Last Death' has sent you this personal message. Although you let me know that this book had a small cover corner tear and I agreed that was fine....I wish you had also mentioned the chewed/ripped corners on the first fifteen pages of the book in the same area. I would have passed on the request. I would please like my credit back...and you are welcome to the book back if you want it. My original rwap: Books like this should be offered in the book bazaar and not posted as it doesn't meet the PBS requirements.

She may let it go unresolved, that does happen.

A note about your original message to her - if you say that they can have the book back, you should also mention that they need to pay the postage to get it.

I did let her know that when I responded to her above message stating she would refund me once I sent the book back ......stating........ I followed the proper steps of PBS for recording a damaged book. The torn/chewed pages are directly in line with the torn corner area so it is impossible to see one and not the other. Please remember that just because you may have received a damaged / unpostable book from another member that does not make it acceptable to continue to post in the system. I am not to picky for this site and am more than happy with books that meet the clubs posable requirements. Again, following PBS rules I am happy to return the book to you at your request upon the refund of my original credit and an additional one for the return postage. This transfer needs to be done prior to me returning the book to you. You may verify that info thru PBS if needed. Please make this transfer within 24 hours so I can return the book to you and the matter can be resolved

We should start a thread...counting how many times that tired excuse is used, "...I received it that way...

Exactly!!! End result is someone else gets stuck with a damaged book. I surprisingly did get my credit back just within the last hour and I get to keep the chewed book UGH..............".......................You have been given a refund of 1 credit. Keep the book and please do not order from me again." Somehow I dont think she learned a lesson. I wish PBSwould make shippers take their "but I received it that way" books back .

Oh they always say "please do not order from me again".  Like we have a choice who offers a WL book or comes up first on FIFO.

"...perhaps you might be a little too picky for a used book club and you should put more stipulations under your criteria..."

Don't feel bad, Tammie. I received a nasty, moldy, very badly water damaged book and the sender suggested that I was too picky and should have requestor conditions in place. I can imagine how they would read...

I am unwilling to accept books that are so badly water damaged that the color has run through all the pages of the book and the cover is completely warped out of shape, and am also unwilling to accept any books that are so overgrown with mold that there is a chance they may walk off by themselves. Thanks!

But somehow I suspect this person would have sent the book anyway.

I'm glad to hear you received a refund on your credit, though!

As much of an RC Nazi as I apparently am, I would still love to have a book requested from my shelf with your RC Stephanie J, and I would undoubtedly accept it.  yes

It always amazes me how people who send unpostables love to state the the person is too picky.  How about just owning up to the fact you sent an unpostable book??  People just don't want to accept any responsibility, and act like you're lucky to get their crappy book in any condition.
