I laughed, I cried, got mad, held my breath to in anticipation, literlly couldn't put it down. Took me two days to read and I loved it! This book had everything it takes to make a repeat readable book on myself. If it can make me do all those things and think about it for hours on end afterward it is an excellent book and the writer knows how to keep a reader interested. A++++ author!

You really get to know Zarek, one of the most hard hearted Dark Hunters. Having endured a lifetime as a tormented Roman slave and 900 years as an exiled Dark Hunter, Zarek is not about to trust anyone. Then he meets Astrid, a goddess who has been sent to Earth to judge him. Zarek is taken in by the beautiful Astrid after he gets hurt in a battle with some Squires. He has no idea of Astrid's true purpose in his life as his heart starts to thaw through her ministrations. These characters were so different from each other - one a wild, not very attractive man; the woman a quite refined, compassionate beauty. As Zarek's background is revealed I was able to feel more sympathetic towards him rather than pitying and wishing he'd go away. Astrid is truly a wonderful character. The plot is filled with action and several surprises. Also has it's share of erotic longings fulfilled between the 2 characters. Couldn't put book down to see what would happen and was satisfied at the ending. An enjoyable, fun book!

All the Dark Hunters are tortured souls, but Zarek is the most tortured of all. This was my favorite Dark Hunter novel. It is the love story between Zarek, and Astrid, who was sent to judge him. She has never found anyone innocent until now.
