I haven't read George R R Martin's books but I have noticed a lot of frustration at there not being another (final?) one. Could this be it? I haven't noticed this title before and it looks like it's due to come out (at least in kindle) this summer sometime.

It is.  Finally, a release date in July.  Major doorstopper, too.

Yes, but he's had two previous release dates.  I won't believe it until it's sitting on my Kindle.  wink

I agree Vicky,  But I also think with the HBO series starting in April that the marketing opportunity that presents has his publishers salivating.  He would be very foolish to let and opportunity like this slip buy.  But I was so underwhelmed by A Feast For Crows, that I am not chomping at the bit for this one.  I will put my name on the list at the library, and wait to hear what people are saying.

Yeah, I don't think I'll rush out to buy it either, altho I'm excited to see it come to fruition. I loved the first book, but the second just meandered all over the place and I haven't gotten around to reading 3 and 4 yet. So I'm content to wait for the jury verdict.

I am with you Genie, loved the first one, I read them all thinking I must really be thick that I just wasn't getting it.

I loved the first three but the fourth, A Feast For Crows, was a major disappointment. It had it good parts which made the book worth reading but it was slow as molasses in many areas and many of our favorite characters were absent. I'm hoping A Dance With Dragons will be much better than Crows. Martin won't be the first author to have one bad book in an otherwise great series. As for the release date, Martin promises that July 12th is a hard date, set in stone. We shall see.

es, Martin says it's not actually off to the publisher yet, but unlike other release dates, this time the writing is done. Just doing the final run through. I loved the first three books and was also disappointed with A Feast for Crows. He introduced a whole new geographical setting and set of characters and spent most of the book with them, and very little of it on characters we already knew and almost NOTHING of any of the characters I liked. That was a poor way to introduce such a huge new part of the overall plot. It needed to scattered here and there in amongst what we were already looking forward to. It felt like the whole book was off on a tangent.
