The day after her father's death, Angelina Coleman is approached by the town banker. He tells her that her father had taken out a loan for the ranch, and now that loan is due. But neither Angelina, nor her ailing mother or her sister, Chloe, believe him. They search for the money but none is found. Mr. Wentworth has a signed loan to prove that they owe the money, and if it is not paid in full, they will all be evicted. When Angelina can't repay the debt, Wentworth offers her a solution. Angelina is going to make her debut at a brothel known as the Murray House to pay off the loan. Mr. Murray paid off her debt and in return, Angelina will work for him until the loan is paid back. Kittridge Dancer had heard about the 'Ice Angel' who works at Murray's, and he is overwhelmed by her beauty as she enters the parlor. Kit has to have her! He has two chances with Angel, but both are interrupted, so Kit does not have the pleasure of sampling her charms. When Kit learns of Angelina?s situation, he meets with Mr. Murray and offers to pay off Angelina's debt. But there is one catch. Angelina must marry and stay married for at least one year. Kit accepts the terms, and he promises Angelina that he will not force her to become his wife in the physical sense until she is ready. They are very strongly attracted to each other, and finally, after waiting and wanting him so much, Angelina takes him to her bed, and Kit gets the surprise of his life! Kit and Angelina fall into a domestic routine, but in the back of their minds is the knowledge that Kit will leave when his time is up. When Kit uncovers the illegal scam perpetrated by Murray and Wentworth, he can free Angelina of her debts - but does that mean she'll be free of him as well?. Kit believes that Angelina deserves a better man and he leaves. He has to reconcile himself with his past in order to move ahead, if he can. Angelina loves Kit and she hopes that their love is strong enough to bring him back. This is the first title by Arlene Holliday writing as Holly Harte.
