The 100 Cupboards series starts to become a little darker in book two. The imagery of evil was difficult for me to handle at times. There were fewer times in this book and the third that you were given breathing room with a light sequence of events. Enjoyable and well written like the first, just a little harder to digest.

This book is darker than the first book, and much more complex. I enjoyed it very much, but the story has definitely taken a turn toward a more serious kind of fantasy novel--just this side of scary. Wonderful writing. This could be a great saga!
