If you have enjoyed any of Feehan's Dark novels, you will also like this novella. Note, as mentioned by another reviewer, Dark Dream has already been published in another anthology: After Twilight(?) (this review form is covering my screen and I'm not sure I am remembering the anthology name correctly.)

Liu became one of my favorite authors the first time I read one of her books. She is a relatively new author, all of whose books so far involve characters who work for Dirk & Steele, an undercover paranormal organization. Primary characters in one book have turned up in supporting roles in subsequent books. Most of the paranormals are shape changers, though with this novella, Liu introduces a new type: gargoyles.

Dark Dream from Feehan was also in After Twilight so that was a bit of a ripoff but Lui's story was very different and quite good about trapped Gargoyle.

Christine DOES NOT WRITE A BAD BOOK! I absolutely love how she continues to include previous characters in each of the Dark Series. Its gotta be one of my favorite things reading a good awesome -can't-put-it-down kind of book and then reading the next book in the series or even 5 books later in the series than someone else's love story and they are included in the plot kind of like getting to check on them every so often!

Paranormal at one of it's finest moments. Intensely moving relationships and love affairs fill the pages of both stories.

There are two stories in this book and I enjoyed both of them. They both come from series books and the authors are becoming two of my favorites. I have always liked stories about paranormals and both of these stories are fast paced and live up to the paranormal listing to the hilt.

Two books in one--Dark Dream (Feehan), on Carpathian Falcon and his recently located life-mate Sara who is being chased by an anciet vampire; A Dream of Stone & Shadow (Liu), Aggie-an agent for Dirk & Steele-specializes in using her talents to rescue children in contacted by the soul of a trapped gargoyle who wants help in rescuing a child he's found. Both books are great reads!

DARK DREAMERS ANTHOLOGY: A re-issue of my novel Dark Dream will be released in a new anthology titled Dark Dreamers. Dark Dream was originally released in anthology titled After Twilight.

Dark Dreamers features a brand new story by Marjorie M. Liu titled A Dream of Stone and Shadow. Marjorie is a wonderful writer and a wonderful person. I hope you enjoy!

I liked this book as both authors are among my favorites. However, this is a first time read for the Dirk & Steele by Liu. I will definitely be reading the others in that series. Got to say, this book will not disappoint readers who like these authors.

I swapped for this book because I was interested in the gargoyle story by Majorie Liu. Unfortunately, she got too gory for my taste. Who wants to read about some strange witch who keeps carving up a gargoyle for steaks? Yuck! The romantic part of the story was good, and the usual Feeham (predictable) story was OK. I'm putting this book back up to swap because for me, this book is not worth a second read.

I gave this book an overall 4.5 stars. The two stories are both very good paranormal romance.

First, Christine Feehan's Dark Dream is part of her Carpathian series--not sure where it falls in the reading order. This same story also appeared in another anthology, After Twilight. It is basically the story of a very ancient Carpathian male named Falcon who finds his lifemate--a human woman named Sara. Sara is on a mission to save seven orphaned children who like herself have psychic abilities. This story is a nice addition to the Carpathian series as the characters are very likable and show up several times later on in the series.

The second story, A Dream of Stone and Shadow by Marjorie M. Liu is excellent. Charlie is a gargoyle, part of an ancient and dieing race who have hidden themselves in plain sight by pretending to be human. He and his brothers are held captive by a witch bent on gaining their powers. During his captivity Charlie discovers a way to leave his body and travel into the world. In doing so he finds a child in desperate need of help and quickly searches out the one woman he believes can help the little girl. Aggie has powerful psychic abilities and a lot of courage, and she quickly falls in love with Charlie even as she rushes to the child's aid. This was a wonderful addition to the Dirk and Steele series--I believe it's number 4 if you're reading in order. I highly recommend the book for this story alone--it's unique and very romantic.

The Feehan novella was just OK, but the Liu one totally ROCKED. I LOVE Liu's gargoyles! Plus she writes really great dialog.

DARK DREAM
by Christine Feehan

She’s known him since she was fifteen. Every night, he is with her: his face, his voice. Tonight, Sara Marten will meet the man who is both angel and demon, salvation and temptation: Falcon—the Carpathian, the banished hero. Tonight, Sara will meet the dark-eyed destroyer destined to be her mate..
A DREAM OF STONE AND SHADOW
by Marjorie M. Liu

There are those who do terrible things in this world, and those who simply watch. Charlie would do neither. Imprisoned, his only release is through his own destruction—or through Aggie Durand. Sweet as a kiss or a rescued child, she is the one dream he does not dare desire. As an agent of Dirk & Steele, she could be his salvation. Today, Charlie’s dream is waking...
