I was first turned on (no pun intended) to the paranormal romance b/c of someone's recommendation of Sherrilyn Kenyon. I read one book actually out of order but loved it.  So far i've read all but one of her books on Dark Hunters. (Not so big onto the Dream Hunters, but sometimes you will see a Dark Hunter or Archeron  so I read them too) I wanted other books to read of the paranormal type so I started reading the Dark series with Carpathians.  I was just wondering... if pitted again one another.. who would win??  Dark Hunter or Carpathian?  Archeron or Gregori/Mikhail?? Talon or Aidan?

Personally I love the Dark Hunters!!  So much humor and wit while kicking butt!!! My money is on them!!!

Ooh! that is a tough one. I would say the Dark Hunters are better fighters and the Carpathians are better lovers. lol

I think in a fight against Ash and Gregori/Mikhail it is no contest that Ash wins.  After all, he is a GOD ;p (In more ways that one)  I agree that it would definitely be an interesting fight though.  If you leave Ash out of the mix, I think the match would be more even.  But the DH would definitely have more fun in the skirmish!

No! Seriously Ashley....how do you really feel about Feehan's series? You don't have to candy coat it for us. LOL

I, myself, like her series but that was funny.

How are you liking Raine? I have it but have only read Nicholas. Those goat-boys are interesting. lol

lol I didn't mean to sound so...rude rofl. Reading the first Dark book made me want to burn it...it was just so bad to me lol I tried a few more to see if the series got better and it didn't lol Her heroines are all the same, her heroes are the same, her sex scenes are the same, the drama is the same......

but on that note, I like her Ghost Walker books

And I talked about my take on Raine on my blog, rofl, here is what I said

Wow is about all I can say. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about where Elizabeth Amber has taken things, but again after reading the first few pages I was sucked in. Is it like a car crash where you just can look away? I have no idea if there are other more mainstream books like these out there, I haven’t heard of them. I give major, major kudos to Elizabeth Amber for going somewhere that I don’t think many authors would. I can’t begin to imagine what she has in store for us with Lyon, but I know I will be one of the first to eat it up, even if I am a little scared. With Raine, all I want to do is scream “omg she has…he does that…. what’s going on?!?!” But I am refraining myself

Aww I didn't find you rude at all. I like people to say it like they mean it. :)

I agree with you on Feehans characters. They do all take on similar roles but then you always know what you are getting. Sometimes there is comfort in that for me. I guess it depends on my mood when I chose the next book in the pile.

I'll have to check out your blog some evening since I'm sure my day job has blocked the site. Sorry to make you reiterate on Raine. Reading the first book was like a car crash. Great analogy! I was sure about it at first but when I saw Raine the other day at the bookstore, I didn't hesitate at all to buy it. lol It's a good thing I'm open minded and like to read about really different things. :p

I've been talking about Raine since I started it, I don't mind lol I do like it alot. I read Nicholas in one day, and I would have read Raine has fast if I had another free day. It is a very good story. I don't want to give it away, but even with the big "omg" thing, I love it. I really like Elizabeth Amber's writing. She makes the weird and unexpected seem normal lol

I do really like Christine Feehan's Drake sisters books more than her Carpathians series.  I think what I love so much about the Dark-Hunters is how complex the mythos is and all mythological characters she brings to life.

A lot of people were raving about JR Ward's Dark Brotherhood books, so I ordered the first one, Dark Lover.

I just started it last night and wasn't thrilled  - the prose seemed a bit terse and forced. The goofy spellings of the names cracked me up too - Rhage? Zsadist?  They kinda made me roll my eyes.  So far, I'm not sold, but am willing to give it a shot.

I wasn't too fond of Dark Lover...it was just ok to me...but next book is better. Though, I have to say I didn't like the last 2 so much. I'm hoping the next is better. The names were annoying to me, very much, but you get use to it lol

Well I have loved and read twice each of the Brotherhood books. Dark Lover slid right in from the first and kept me wanting more. (hope that didn't sound bad, lol) The names are different but they wouldn't seem so bada** with names like Bob or Harry.

i have read and enjoyed all of the J.R. Ward books.

there's a blog i read that i find just hysterically funny, and they review romance novels as they read them.  this review of Dark Lover had me laughing so hard it hurt, and the discussion in the comments was entertaining as well.  i just wanted to share it.  :)  DO NOT read this unless you've read the book, or given up on it.  (or if you dislike strong language.) http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/index.php/weblog/dark_lover_by_jr_ward/

Dark Hunters all the way! I love that series but couldn't even read the first of the Carpathians....I just couldn't get into it at all. Feehan is a hit-or-miss (but mostly miss) author for me...I picked up 2 of the GhostWalker series (Conspiracy Game and Deadly Game) and really liked them so I ordered the 1st in the series and couldn't finish it either. However, I really like the Drake sisters.

The first Kenyon book that I read was Dark side of the moon.  I have since gotten all of the DH series and Fantasy Lover.  I AM HOOKED!!!!!!!!  I have also been reading Amanda Ashley (vampire), Lyndsay Sands (vampire), Meljean Brook (demon, vampire, angel), Sharie Kohler (warewolf), Nina Bangs (vampire) and the vampire trilogy by Cameron Dean.

Dark Hunters would win hands down.   I'm not even sure that is a fair fight:lol:   Now up against the Brotherhood guys...that would be a more level playing field.

I got into this genre largely due to the Carpathians but got tired of the stale romantic torment and how basically weak the female characters seem to be.  I just don't find them too interesting anymore.

Love the link and that review because it reminded me so much of my first reaction to the abuse of the letter "H" in everything:lol:   Saved the link to favorites and this is what is on my list:

Romance Novels Reviews:   Smart Bitches Come for the Dominican Bitches, Stay for the Man Titty

Wasn't expecting that:LOL:

I  much prefer the Dark Hunters.  The Carpathians have too much of the blood thing for my taste.
