Has anyone else read this? What were your thoughts? Although I liked both characters, I found myself bored with the story. I like the premis of the story, a band of warriors cursed by the gods and each forced to embody a different demon. But I found myself constantly checking to see how much longer / how many more pages until this one was finished (and not in a good way).

I generally likeGena Showalter's books. And this wasn't a bad story. I'm not crazy about the super-flippant, everything-is-a-one-liner style of characters, so that may have been a big part of it. Who else has read this one?

The Darkest Kiss

Lords of the Underworld series - Book 2

By Gena Showalter

He is Death, destined to be her executioner.

Ordered by the gods to escort the tempestuous Anya’s soul to hell, Lucien is an immortal warrior torn between duty and desire.  For Anya sparks the flames of passion inside him as no one else ever has.
She is Anarchy, as beautiful as she is deadly.
There is nothing Anya wants more than to be Lucien’s lover.  His half-hearted attempts to kill her are exhilarating.  His kisses – electrifying.
They should have been enemies but they become allies, traveling the world to find and destroy an ancient relic of the gods before it can be used against him -- separating them for eternity.

I didn't like the first one much, but I felt the 2nd was much better, and the 3rd even more so. I liked the couples in 2 and 3.

I enjoyed it.  It was a good followup to Bk. 1 and setup things for Bk. 3 which I am really enjoying.

I really liked the first book but found the second one a real chore to get thru.  It picked up about half way thru but I really disliked the hero - Lucien.  I have "The Darkest Pleasure" in my TBR and I hope it returns to the quality of the first book.

I'm reading the second book (The Darkest Kiss) right now and I really like it.  I wasn't too sure about the first book, but about halfway through I was hooked.  I hope that she continues the series.  I would love to read about more of the warriors.
