First off....let me say when I saw Nyx (see Kresley Cole) in this book walking though Buda...I squealed like a little girl and got crazy excited, especially since Torin was instantly attracted, you know what that means. We have reached the point where Gena Showalter is starting to bleed her plot a bit...we are seeing more of the other characters perspectives in this book than in the others, and I like it. I like Sabin's take charge sort of character but I felt that the conflict between himself and his female, Gwen, was a bit forced...like Showalter was just trying to put something in there quickly to give them some sort of conflict. This book started and ended well...it flowed throughout and there was no tedious catch-up for days. Over all not too bad a read, I am excited for the next book in this series...hopefully we will see more of Nyx.

4 stars for this one. Very good book despite some major issues.
This is the story of Sabin, keeper of Doubt, and how he comes to know and love a Harpy named Gwen. Gwen struggles with a battle to be normal, constantly battling her dark side while worrying that she is not as brave or strong as her older harpy sisters. This uncertainty intitially leads Sabin to believe that they can't be together, despite the fiery attraction between them, because his demon makes people doubt themselves to the point of depression. However, Gwen's strength and will begin to grow even as the love between them grows.
Gwen probably the weakest part of this book. She started out helpless and I don't mind that in a heroine, if I see her improving througout the story. She does (somewhat) but in the end, at the crucial moment of the conflict she chokes completely. Without giving too much away, I'll just say that some of her actions left the overall impression of a character who is not as well developed and strong as she should be.
I felt the romance was adequate. I really liked Sabin, and I felt he grew and matured in the developement of the relationship, which is good to see. That pretty much made up for aforementioned slightly annoying heroine. I also like that the couples from the previous books were revisited a tiny bit. Plus we see more developement with Aeron and Paris. Really makes me look forward to future books.
Overall, if you liked the previous books this one is well worth the read.
Sabin, keeper of Doubt, merciless warrior, driven leader and all-round badass. Gwendolyn the Timid, poster child for the self-esteem challenged, current captive and all-round victim. And they fall for each other so hard it registers on the Richter scale. This is a pairing worthy of Nina Bangs' Sparkle Stardust, the cosmic troublemaker who specializes in creating sexual havoc by matching total opposites [to their eventual delight] to watch the fireworks.
Gwen is a Harpy - who is afraid of her 'inner Harpy' and equally afraid of her lack of Harpy qualities. Sabin avoids women because his demon, Doubt, damages his lovers even to the point of suicide.
Plot-wise [meaning the overall plot of the series] we don't seem to advance much; but I suspect considerable grounds were laid for future books. Comic interest is provided by Gwen's sisters who can almost approve of her choice - after all he's a bloodthirsty warrior with the social skills of a piranha. Some revelations and truly heart wrenching moments are provided by the other Lords...

Sabin, Lord keeper of Doubt and the Harpy... I was excited to read this. It was a very fast paced read with a lot of action compared to some of the others in this series. I loved their relationship. I just wish there was a hell of a lot more of that steamy sex that went on. A litle more pleaseeeee....
Again..love this series..kinda had misgivings of reading this one with the Gideon Speak I knew would be in it..thought it may be a little confusing..but I was so wrong...didnt really play a part in it..went very smoothly...one of her best!
