Hello. I was wondering how self published authors get their books listed on the databases of swap sites like pbs, or sell sites like bay and amazon. I know that online self publishers like lulu and i-universe pretty much guarantee to list your isbns on various databases, but I didn't peruse such sites. I did everything on my own and am now finding myself in need of info at the promotions level. Thank you in advance for your assistance

PBS uses amazon's list so you'd be better off asking amazon. But usually they only deal with certain vendors. You could try putting up a store there and listing your book.

I'll contact Amazon. And I hear there's also something called the Muze database. E-bay is easy, but has tons of fees.

The 'major' print-on-demand (PoD) outfits for self-published books offer various packages for so called 'distribution' -- in essence listing at Amazon etc.

Lulu offers free Amazon listing though it can take forever and a bit longer. 90 days or so. CreateSpace is an Amazon subsidiary. If you publish with them you get very fast Amazon listing ... but just Amazon.

I used Lightningsource, an Ingram outfit, for my latest book. Not counting the ISBN, their total fees came in under $150. Once I approved the proof listing on Amazon & B/N was quite quick.

You can also become a MERCHANT at Amazon. A bit expensive. So various options.

Hope this helps.
