He claims to have gone to Pleasantville High School (in a suburb just beyond New York) and Haverford College (just beyond Philadelphia) and to have graduated both times (beyond comprehension). Afterward, he launched into a career in journalism, narrowly missing the Watergate story to concentrate on West Chester, PA's sewage problems, and soon there was spirited bidding for his talents in the wider world. The Miami Herald won, and his weekly column is now syndicated to more than four hundred hapless but happy newspapers.
Dave, his wife, Beth, and their son, Robby, lived for a time outside Miami, until Dave, realizing that Miami is not Philadephia or New York, moved into the city itself.« less
