A good light read. Fills in many of the gaps from the movie although there are parts of the movie that are not in the book. In some ways, the descriptions are far more graphic than depicted in the movie such as how certain characters died. It does repeat the theme of hope, especially at the end. The story is occasionally choppy because it jumps from viewpoint to viewpoint.

Overall, it is a fair read if you are looking for a story that is somewhat predictable but it is an enjoyable story.

This book was just like the movie, with a few extras put in, if you thought the movie was good you'll like the book, and suprisingly it was written by Whitely Strieber, which I didn't think he could write something like this.

Global warming?... after reading this novel you will have no doubts!!! The author weaves a great story that leaves you wanting more.

This is a great story, I don't know if the movie was based on the book or the other way around. If you haven't seen the movie the book is a great read. If you have seen the movie, the story is just like the movie.

The beginning of the end

It's a fiercely hot summer, so hot that the north pole's heat record is broken by fifty degrees. Massive ice melt stuns the world as open ocean appears at the pole for the first time in living memory. Deep under the Atlantic Ocean, currents crucial to life react, dropping south-and suddenly, storms of unprecedented ferocity start exploding over the arctic as cold air returns, slamming into the heat with cataclysmic results.
