I like a tightly-woven book when it comes to tales of spies, government, and politics. When I read the plot of this book, although the author was totally unknown to me, I ordered it. What a great surprise it was: a fast-moving book of only 318 pages, the prose is pared down but the characters are well described. The plot is one that snares attention immediately and keeps it engaged the entire time. An excellent book on several levels, this is a recommended read.

I just finished this book and couldn't wait to get to the end to see how it turned out, but now I'm kinda sad that the story is over. It started out fast and didn't let up! This was one of those books that I didn't want to put down.

Holland Tylo is an extremely dedicated Secret Service agent, only on the job about a year, and is faced with bringing down some of the biggest names in Washington politics after a senior senator is gruesomely murdered on her watch.

I'm now looking for more books by Philip Shelby!

From the book jacket: "Days of Drums is the story of a senator's assassination and of a young female Secret Service agent in the vise of a conspiracy as the tension builds, heartbeat by heartbeat, toward a terrifying climax."
