Absorbing story about the power of finding love again.
Jill Barnett is a pretty good author but I just didn't feel the chemistry/connection between the characters in this book. Maybe you will!
Nice story about love and relationships. I like the story -- but not my favorite book. It would be a nice quick read for a day on the beach or airplane read.
This was a very good story. It cover 30 years and 3 generations of women and men. Alot of romance through the years and a good suspenseful storyline as well. I liked it alot. Jill Barnett is a good author.
Wow. I love Jill Barnett, but this book is her best ever. Incredible story and real characters that you become involved with.
A tangled web of obsession, revenge and unruly passion that changes the lives of three innocent women Kathryn,Laurel, and Julia Peyton.
This is the first book I have read by ,Jill Barnett, and it is a large print edition which took some getting useto. So, it was slow going initially, but I got into the story of these three generations and found it very enjoyable
In 1957 in Los Angeles, oil heir Rudy Banning and his artist wife Rachel drink too much before driving their vehicle head on into a car containing singer Jimmy Peyton and his manager. All four die in the car accident. The Banning children Jud and Cale move into the home of their ruthless grandfather, a coldhearted affluent business mogul; Peyton's daughter Laurel remains with her devastated mother, his widow Kathryn.
Thirteen years later on Catalina Island, Laurel and Cale meet and fall in love. However, his grandfather forces Cale to choose between Laurel and medical school; he selects becoming a doctor. Laurel soon meets Cale's brother Jud and feelings grow between them while Cale is off at school.
Over the next three decades Cale holds grudges against his brother and the one woman he loved. Now the trio meet once again as Jud begins to court Laurel who turns to cardiologist Cale for heart surgery.
THE DAYS OF SUMMER is a fascinating relationship drama that follows the lives over several decades of two brothers and the woman they both desire connected initially by tragedy. The story line is a sudsy soap opera especially during the present era subplot and to a lesser degree in 1970. Still the three protagonists are fully developed leading to fun learning the outcome even though their triangle seems contrived.
One fateful night, a deadly accident at a Los Angeles intersection changes the lives and fortunes of three innocent women - Kathryn, Laurel and Julia Peyton - destined to be caught in a tangled web of obsession, revenge, and unruly passion. Wealthy California oil magnate Victor Banning also lost his son and daughter-in-law that night, an accident caused by his own selfish actions and dark secrets. Afterward, Victor aspires to raise their sons Jud and Cale to be just like him: hungry predators in a dog-eat-dog world, until years later, everything changes when they meet Laurel Peyton.
