Griffin Powell, Damar Sanders and Yvette, Malcolm's wife, were in captivity on Amara Island for sixteen years. Malcolm York is a sadistic psychopath monster who abducted men, women, and children all over the world. Malcolm would sort out the biggest and strongest who can inflict pain on the weakest. York provided whatever his quests wanted. He didn't care as long as they could be used to make money for him. Griff and Sanders killed York. In the last five years, there have been sightings of Malcolm all over the world and rumors were surfacing. He's given parties to his ruthless friends who have watched and participated in the hunt to kill. Griff, Damar, and Yvette were all there when they killed Malcolm. They know that this latest Malcolm York is an imposture. "What does this phony want?"

Griffin and Nicole had a disagreement during the ten years he was in captivity on Amara Island about whether or not Griff and Yvette were lovers. Griff wasn't straightforward when he told Nicole what happened on Amara. Griff only told Nic half the truth. However, the most important question Nic wanted to know was if Griff and Yvette were lovers. Subsequently, Griff had to tell Nic that Yvette had a baby on Amara, and possibly he was the father. Nic left Griffin's Rest to spend time at the cabin in the country. While she was there, she was abducted and delivered to Malcolm. Griff is doing everything he can to keep Nic alive, even jumping over hoops when Malcolm does the bidding.

"Dead By Nightfall" was captivating from the beginning to the last page. There was much excitement with ongoing action throughout the book. There was never a dull moment with the gripping information Beverly Barton was giving to the reader leading to the very end, even though this was the end of the series. She left a door slightly open. I think, if her fans wanted to read a story about Yvette and Rafe, that Ms. Barton would have pleased her fans. It would make a sensational story with them both having psychic abilities. I liked the Powell Series from the beginning in "The Dying Game."

Another masterpiece by Beverly Barton who wrapped up all the pieces together in the 3rd final series "Dead By Nightfall." Ms. Barton did a superb job of weaving in the ending. I'm heavy hearted at the passing of Beverly Barton. I'll miss her. I looked forward to her yearly series. A talented and skilled writer such as Beverly Barton doesn't come around often. If you want to start at the beginning of "The Dying Game," "The Murder Game" is a must first read. Nic is an FBI agent and Griff Powell owns a Detective Agency with both working on the same case involving a serial killer.
