This is the first book I have read by Greg Iles and I will definitely read his other books. Although it didn't "scare the living daylights out of me" as promised on the cover, it was
a well-done and satisfying thriller. I recommend it highly to anyone who likes this genre with some thought and originality in a book.

From the jacket "They are called the "Sleeping Women," a series of unsettling paintings in which the nude female subjects appear to be not asleep, but dead. Photojournalist Jordan Glass has another reason to find the paintings disturbing: The face on one of the nudes is her own - or perhaps the face of her twin sister, who disappeared and is still missing. At the urging of the FBI, Jordan becomes both hunter and hunted in a search for the anonymous artist - an obsessed killer who seems to know more about Jordan and her family than she is prepared to accept..."
The most appealing thing about this book to me was that it was set in New Orleans in the year 2000 (pre-K). Mr Iles exhibits a prescience when he points out that N.O. is a bowl with a levee system that is not likely to hold up if and when the right hurricane comes along. He was not the only one to note this pre-K however and unfortunately it happened any way.
This was the fourth book by Greg Iles that I have read. It is worth noting I think that each of these books has been unique. Each experience has been a different journey. There is nothing serial about any of them. I envy his imagination and I'm thankful for the books.

I picked up this book quickly to read on a trip, and only realized later that the author was the same person who wrote THE TURNING ANGEL, which I had thoroughly enjoyed. His characters are not 'good guys and bad guys'--100% moral or 100% evil. They are the same mix that we all are, some good and some bad; each person trying to find a balance they can live with. Unfortunately the balance some people can live with means OTHER people have to die, so . . .

I've read a few of Greg Ilses's books and none of them have really wowed me. For the most part they are well written and the plot is never too overblown, but they never deliver the level of suspense that I'm looking for. I read this one to the end, but thought that it was about 100 pages too long. I have a few more of his books in my TBR pile which I will be donating to the library.

right up top with mystery and drama content!!
An enjoyable book.
Very good book. I always enjoy Iles.
Suspenseful drama which kept me guessing about the ending. Ending was a total surprise.
As is with all Iles books, very intriguing.
A series of paintings of nude females who appear not to be sleeping, but dead. A photojournalist sees her own face on one of the paintings.
She then tries to seek the artist, and the story takes off from there.
It is a very exciting book.

Okay, this creepy thriller kept me up nights!!! I could barely put it down for days until I could finish it. Scary plot, cool characters and an interesting romance make this one of my top 5 favorite thrillers. (The only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is because of a little too much graphic sex. Sometimes NOT knowing every detail is better.) :O)
Pretty creepy book had me looking over my sholder all night long...
This one totally freaked me out! It was so good!
Great, suspenseful fun! Will keep you guessing!
A suspenseful book about a serial killer painting nude portraits of the women he killed. A can't put it down story, you are sure to enjoy.
A book you don't want to put down!!!
Perfectly calibrated suspense.
Did not read more than 3 chapters. Just couldn't get into this book although it sounds good.
Great author!
If you like thrillers you will love this book and

author,couldnt put it down.
little boring at the begining, but, it gets better, later. A really good mystery, keeps your mind working.
Good Book **** I really like this author.
KEEPS YOUR ATTENTION TO THE VERY END
you won't be able to put this one down. a woman sees herself in a painting of "sleeping" women. What's up?
Another great book by a fabulous author
I really enjoy this author and read his works as they come out. He has some good twist and turns during the story.
Awesome book, couldn't put it down!!!!!!!!!!
Great book! Very riveting....
I like Greg Iles. I think he is a super writer of thriller mysteries. I have read almost everything he has written. This book is about a series of paintings that appear and which portray missing women. The plot is about the search to discover the kidnapper.
It's a really interesting read.
It's a really interesting read.
Fast paced and interesting!
very good story interesting all through.
Wonderful Mystery...Couldn't put it down
When visiting an art gallery in Hong Kong, Jordan Glass is shocked to see a painting of her twin sister. The same sister that disappeared a year ago while jogging. Soon Jordan is helping the FBI solve a string of kidnappings.
I found this book a really great read. It was the first book that I had read from this author. I enjoyed getting into the murderers head (who happened to also be an artist). I love psychological thrillers and this was definately one of them.

they are called the sleeping women. the ladies in the pic, appear to be sleeping, but are they or are they dead.? jorden is a twin and she is looking for her twin sister jane.
An interesting story line that keeps you guessing almost to the end.It starts with a twin looking at nude "sleeping" pictures of her twin that disappeared over a year before. She is on assignment in China, and someone encourages her to stroll through their art museum. The page turner begins. After this one, I had to order a couple more from this author.
This book kept me guessing and in total suspense as I tried, unsucessfully to solve the crime as the story unfolded. Why would an artist paint portraits of women who appear to be dead? Read the book and find out.
An artist hunts for her missing sister after her face appears on a disturbing painting
Very well-plotted and executed.
