Shetlander Jerry Markham is found dead in a small boat in the marina. He had come home from London and was supposedly investigating an energy company in Shetland. But some things did not add up.

Jimmy Perez is joined by Detective Inspector Willow Reeves from the mainland when the Fiscal was the one to find the body. Possible conflict. The two find ways to work together and to appreciate each other's strengths.

They start with Jerry's parents and move on from there, chasing down leads that finally pan out. Meanwhile there seems to be a little bit of a spark between the two investigators. I expect this to be fanned a little in coming novels in this series, but very little. Cleeves likes to take things like this slowly so we can get to know our people well.
