I really enjoyed this gritty western filled with paranormal elements. No romance, but Cora is a wounded soul who kicks major paranormal booty and has a dirty mouth like Calamity Jane from Deadwood. You get little hints at certain things and it was amazingly fun to see the story play out, sad at times, but fun. I have decided I need to check out Angry Robot books, they print up good stuff that isn't mainstream. Love it!
I hope the next one in this series, She Returns from War is just as good :)

Loved this book. Great characters, great story, great heart and a well done twist. Recommended to anyone who would like a western with supernatural elements.

It took me a while to get into the story of this book. About a quarter of the way, it started grabbing my interest. I think is is worth the read and will read the next book due out at the end of this month. I think the setting of the old west adds to the tale and can only get better as this author develops the characters more.

The first demon encountered is a Wendingo, an indian myth about a cannibal demon. About midway, Cora and Ben are hired to kill a nest of vampires led by a master vampire. I do not like to give away to much, that would spoil the read. There are plot twists, some I could figure out halfway through the book. Some not so much. If this series continues on, it could be the old western version of Anita Blake, without the steamy sex, but still . . . .
