Death Be Not Proud Author:John Gunther Death Be Not Proud is the recreation of Johnny, written by his own father, John Gunther. This is the memorable story of a seven-teen-year-old boy who fought his mortal battle with levelheaded courage and unfaltering patience. It is an inspiring book and a moving account of doctors and medicine.
This was a book that made you stop and appreciate life. I had been wanting to read this book for a long time. Unfortunately I think time has changed the meaning and emotion of this story a great deal. It is a courageous story about the end of a boy's life, long before his time, as seen through the eyes of his father. This family lived in a different time, a time of boarding school and hidden feelings. While the pain of losing his only son was evident, at times I felt the entire family was so distant from one another as well as their fellings, that it was difficult to relate. The book itself was written beautifully.
