This was recommended to me - slow read, my teen would have loved it. Quick read. I had figured it out before it was over.

Meet Hillary Scarborough, a southern belle from Presley, Alabama, with a flair for design . . . and Jane Ferguson, an ex-law student who can't cook or decorate to save her life. Between the two of them, they solve more crimes--and decorating disasters-- than any other belles of the South.

Paula Carter writes books that not only have a mystery to solve, but the two heroines keep up a running dialogue that keeps the reader in stitches with laughter.

Local psychic Cassandra Bean has hired Hillary to supply a banquet in honor of her great aunt--who died several years ago and who had the claim to fame to have killed a dead woman who was trying to take her land. When Hillary and Jane arrive at the isolated Bean residence, they are told that Cassandra has died of a heart attack. Stranded by a storm that washed the bridge out, Hillary and Jane have to deal with dead bodies that get out of the casket, hidden stairways, more dead bodies who don't move, and family ghosts. To find out the truth, the intrepid heroines must finish the job they were hired to do, and try to avoid being finished off themselves in the process.

Great read!!

This is a cute series and has a realist ring for anyone who knows what it's like to try and raise kids and make a living! Just kooky enough for fun.
