This book, first in the series, gives us glimpses of many worlds. Det. Inspector John McLeish is a policeman. The crimes take place in a textile industry context. Francesca Wilson of the British government's Industrial Development Unit, is an unconventionally beautiful and psychologically complex woman. Francesca's four younger singing brothers--especially the charismatic Perry, rising pop star--are very much a part of the story and offer a glimpse into a totally different world. (In fact, the title of this book has a musical context.)

Excellent first book in a series that I somehow managed to miss when it came out - now I've got the find the rest of them.
A cute first book in the series
