This book, first in the series, gives us glimpses of many worlds. Det. Inspector John McLeish is a policeman. The crimes take place in a textile industry context. Francesca Wilson of the British government's Industrial Development Unit, is an unconventionally beautiful and psychologically complex woman. Francesca's four younger singing brothers--especially the charismatic Perry, rising pop star--are very much a part of the story and offer a glimpse into a totally different world. (In fact, the title of this book has a musical context.)

The Industrial Development Unit is concerned about reports that Britex Fabrics is losing money. Bright, tough and attractive Francesca Wilson is part of the team monitoring this disaster, along with Detective Inspector McLeish. Francesca soon finds herself attracted to two of those involved in the case.

Excellent first book in a series that I somehow managed to miss when it came out - now I've got the find the rest of them.
