Anne Boleyn by Evelyn Anthony is available.  I requested the book, but the person smokes and I'm allergic to smoke so they had to decline it.  It has really good reviews on Amazon.

Just took a peek at BCO and they do have quite a few wishlist books on sale. There is only one that I need, but there are lots of other good books. I'm going to get a copy of The Portrait of an Unknown Woman for just $2.99! That is a great deal!

I got that one too, Valli.  I shouldn't have gotten anything at all, looking at the boxes upon endless boxes of unread books I have....argh.  But I got 12 books for a total of $40 and some odd cents.  $9 of it was shipping, which is steep, but I think it comes from Canada.  I could be wrong.  The shipping is the only part that gets me.

I posted Great Maria by Cecelia Holland into the system. I just finished reading it and it was good. There appears to be at least one other copy of this book in the system. I edited the book data to include the info from the dust jacket (it says binding unknown, but it is a hardcover) but I don't know when that info will show up, so here it is:

The time is the eleventh century. The place is southern Italy- chopped up into a demented mosaic of power: hard Norman barons, clinging to their hilltop fortresses; bustling Saracen cities on the coast; large areas under feudal homage to the Pope, to the Emperor; small areas scrapped over by ambitious minor nobles. Military genius, political cunning, personal power are essential to survival.

Into this complex and fascinating background, Cecelia Holland introduces Maria- the young daughter of a fifth- rate Norman baron who is hardly better than a robber chief. Her father is powerless, futile. The young knight Richard who marries her is unscrupulous and determined. Her father's castle is the key to his plans.

From the start, their tumultuous feelings for each other match the dangerous, exciting, violent world they inhabit and hope to dominate. Together they make love and children, war and conquest; a marriage and a kingdom. And all the while, Maria- Great Maria- is learning (reluctantly at first; then more and more eagerly) to struggle to achieve, to accommodate and to win.

This is the first time that Cecelia Holland has centered one of her brilliant historical re- creations on a woman's story and told it from a woman's point of view. The results are spectacular: an enthralling narrative, the life of a remote past made vivid and immediate, and, above all, a magnificent heroine- a woman utterly of her own time who speaks directly to ours.

Have you read this one, Felicia? It sounds good! I'd request it to try a new author, but I'm low on credits. I just went on a credit spending spree.

You're very welcome Marci!

Anne, I'm actually glad that I'm not finding books I need. I'm running out of room for the books already here! I should be reading instead of looking at books.
