It's more of a too many choices then a not in teh mood for anything problem. Because I'm in the mood for all of them.  I offered a choice between 4 books in the new historical swap-so I don't want to start one of those because I don't know which to send yet.  I don't think I'm going to read the book I want to use for the Snack Swap.

For the past month I've been reading for the Serial Readers Challenge. So it was like a sense of urgancy to get more read and to grab a series book. Now I'm like I can't decide!

I need another challenge with a deadline.  Usually a deadline takes teh fun out of a book for me. But because with the Serial Challenge I didn't have to read a certain book for it, I did well with it.  The only requirments were that it be in a series and that I read them in order.

I usually grab something light and funny or reach for erotic romance when I get that way.

I run into this problem all the time too. Usually when I do I'll pick something on the opposite end of the genre spectrum from the book I just finished. Like if I just read a historical romance and can't decide what's next I'll pick up a sci-fi or urban fantasy or something.

I went ahead and started my book for the Shop My TBR swap.  The book is out already. So I might as well read it and get it in the mail.  It's contemporary erotica.  I think I will also try to up my reading of my Big Book for the Big Book Challenge.  I slacked off on that during the Serial Challenge because it was a stand alone.

It's terrible, because I have this enormous (to me) TBR pile and when I feel like that and don't know what to read next, I re-read something I already love... I like to think of it as a jumpstart. :) It usually works. I'll read something and then I'm all inspired to try something new.

That's why I line my books all up on the shelf and read them in order.  When I get a new book, I decide where it goes when I put it on the shelf and it pretty much stays there.  There are a few highly anticipated WL books that will jump to the front of the line as soon as I get them, or I might make a minor shuffle to accomodate a swap,  but for the most part, all 60 or so of them just stand there, patiently waiting their turn.  And when I finish one, I just grab the next one in line and keep going.

Right now, I am about halfway through A Steadfast Surrender by Nancy Moser.  Not a romance, but an awesome book so far.

Good gravy I have that problem too.  Right now I have three books going at once.  Lol, hee hee.  One a bio, one a historical romance and one on cancer issues.  phew, but I manage to take one with me when I have to go about town or outta town to run errands and carry one in my purse for breaks at work. When I finish one, I just start another.   Don't cha just love reading!?!  So many books, so little time!!!  LOL

I could have written your first post Mary! SO many books and I want to read them all! I am trying to offer books in swaps that I don't really feel like reading. Even so then I start saying to myself, why don't I just read it before I send this brand new book away??  :)  no hope for me! I've gotta decide what to take in my purse while I go to the city this morning....dh will be driving....I don't think I want to take the erotica book I am reading. So which of the 60 million other books do I want to start this morning? LOL

I saw this earlier and almost clicked on it-I just noticed now that it was my old thread.

I'm happy to say that I've been very productive reading wise since I posted the OP.  1st I went on a cozy kick, then I went on a romanctic suspense kick, then I went on a historical kick.

Now I think I'm going to read Sliding Home by Kate Angell.  It just came from Amazon today and I could go for something light hearted.  Plus I know the WL will likely move fast on this and I'd rather post it while it's still WL and before there's 100 copies in the system.

If this helps anyone...

I close my eyes and put my finger somewhere on the bookshelf.  Wherever it lands is whatever I read next....

KG I would not be comfortable doing that, because I feel inclined to read series in order if at all possible. I keep lists that tell me what book in what series I need to read next (my read next list).
