Winslow Talbot knows that people consider her to be beautiful, but she believes that's only because they can't see the scars left by a terrible car accident. She cleverly hides these scars, never letting anyone see the real Winslow behind her "mask" and the society life she leads as the step daughter of powerful man currently running for governor. But when her step sister, Ashlyn, introduces Winslow to her new fiancée, Jayce, alarms go off in Winslow. There is just something about him that doesn't feel right to Winslow. When a hit and run boating accident leaves another young girl with facial injuries, clues lead Winslow to believe that Jayce may have had something to do with it. When she acts on her suspicions, Winslow never expects her whole family to turn against her. Now she's on the outside, trying to save her sister from man who Winslow is convinced is hiding a dangerous past.

This brings Winslow into contact with Miami newspaperman, Alex Diaz. Alex is not the kind of man who has time for spoiled society women, but the more time he spends with Winslow, the more he realizes that there is depth to her. As they rush to find out exactly what Jayce is hiding, they begin to fall in love. But can Winslow ever trust Alex enough to let him see her true face, scars and all? And can they force Winslow's family to accept the truth about Jayce before it's too late?

In Too Deep is another well written romantic suspense by Tina Wainscott. Alex Diaz may be her best hero to date. Sexy, romantic, and protective Alex is all the things I look for when I pick up a romance. He certainly made me want to read more! Winslow was a character that was finally coming to terms with her fears, something that made me connect with her all the more. The only aspect of the story which I found a little disturbing was Winslow's family's inability to see past Jayce. I might expect Ashlyn to have been blinded by love, but her father was supposed to be a rich, powerful, political man and I thought he would have be a little more cynical when it came to fortune hunters. However none of that detracted from the story, which I truly enjoyed. I am happy to recommend In Too Deep to readers of romantic suspense!
