I haven't really gotten into the whole Oulander series but I know many just love it.  If you missed it yesterday Mallard Fillmore (comic strip) had a comic about Diana.  I tried to cut and paste the picture but couldn't so I am posting a link to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.  The comic ran yesterday (2/11/09).  It was also in yesterday's Washington Post.  I am not sure who writes the strip but I know that he is right on when it comes to romance readers defending their reading material.

Love it!  Outlander is one of my favorite series ever, so I can totally relate!  Thanks for sharing!

I dunno, that strip kinda bugged me.  I supose it's a reasonable "defense" but it makes it sound like this "historical fiction" written by a PhD is okay, but maybe actual romance written by ordinary people is still crap. I did like the punchline though.

I think the books have that little something in them that you either love them to the point of obsession, or you can't finish them.   I'm in the first portion, I'll admit.  But I can't get my sister to even read book 2.  She won't touch it and she wasn't crazy about Outlander either.  People are different.

If you asked me about Nora Roberts - I'd tell you I'd rather clean toilets for the rest of my life than read her crap again.  lol
