Yes it would get passed on to the next person. She needs to ask PBS to cancel the order for her.

The other option is that she marks the book mailed, buddy's you a credit and then you mark the book received.  But the best way is to contact PBS.

Have her cancel it while you are online so that you can catch and cancel them as soon as she does it.

You could also place Requester Conditions on  before she does it that say "if you receive this request for X, Y or Z book from me, please do not accept it. I am working on cancelling a deal gone bad and I need to be able to cancel this request. Thank you." That would hopefully stop anyone from accepting and printing before you could cancel and if they did send it, they definitely would not be meeting your Conditions.

Also, I do believe if you put your account on vacation hold it won't go on to the next person in line...will have to look in help center to see if this is true.

Personally, I'd just contact her and tell her you wish to cancel...then contact PBS and explain the situation and that you wish to cancel.

I don't think that's the case. You can place orders while your account is on Vacation Hold.

The RC thing would only work if she put in there the problem, asked them to accept but not print right away so she could cancel. If they decline the RCS it just gets passed to the next person.  If they decline for other reasons then they lose their place in FIFO.  PBS needs to cancel this or maybe Melanies idea could work. You could try coordinating a time for her to cancel it where you can be on to immediately cancel the next request.

The Hold thing only works if you've posted a WL book you need to cancel. Going on hold would prevent it from being offered to the next wisher. But it doesn't stop a book you've requested from working it's way through FIFO.

The problem with having the sender cancel, however, is that she'll lose her place in FIFO. And if she buddies you a credit, and then marks it mailed and you mark it received, you'll both go to the end of the line with this book when she reposts it. I think Ms.Right is right (lol!) Ask the PBS team to cancel the transaction and keep the book where it was on this sender's shelf.

The RC thing would only work if she put in there the problem, asked them to accept but not print right away so she could cancel.  It is just a request. The requestor can cancel any request while it is waiting for the member to accept or deny an RC. The person getting the request when it rolls over would not have to(and should not) do anything with the request.

The problem with having the sender cancel, however, is that she'll lose her place in FIFO  I personally don't have sympathy for the sender losing her place in line. She should have confirmed she could fulfill the request before printing the label.

Hope you find some way to get it cancelled without getting the book(s) sent to you without the deal you had agreed to.

Yes she could have time to cancel in between requests-but there are many people who accept and print immediately-then she's stuck again with a request she can't cancel.

The best thing is to contact PBS-unless you want to camp out in front of your computer waiting for it to pass to someone else.

Well if you had contacterd PBS they may not have cancelled that one for you but they could have prevented it from going to the next person.

She lost her place in FIFO by letting it time out instead of having PBS cancel it-so I don't know what her problem was with refusing to contact them.

Glad it worked out for you.
