I trying to print a label with delivery confirmation and it wouldn't print.  I noticed a message from PBS:

"We are sorry but Delivery Confirmation is currently not available for this address."

Anyone know why such a thing would happen?  And does it happen often?  I shipped over 150 books, all with delivery confirmation, and have never encountered an address where it was not available.

According to the Help Center doc titled "I can't use PBS-DC for this address? Why not?":

If you have chosen to add PBS Delivery Confirmation to your wrapper, but you get a message when you try to print, telling you that "Delivery Confirmation cannot be used for this address," that means that the requestor's address is not on the list of USPS-validated addresses.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much recourse aside from sending without DC or cancelling the transaction and hoping that either the Requestor changes their address to a validated form, or another Requestor comes along.

There appears to be a misspelling of the city name (Dovr instead of Dover).  I suppose this could be an issue.

I'll probably print out a plain label and try to purchase delivery confirmation at the post office tomorrow.

Every member here is supposed to have a valid USPS address.  There could be an issue with Endicia that is causing the error.  Give it a little while and try again.  If the issue persists, use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page and let the PBS team know.  They'll contact the member and figure out why their address is no longer valid.

Thanks, that makes the best sense.  There really shouldn't be address issues here!  I went ahead and contacted the PBS team sooner rather  than later because I'd been printing some other labels with delivery confirmation and there were no issues.

Brightstar, you can definitely purchase Delivery Confirmation through the PO in order to track the book, but according to the Help Center only PBS DC comes with Credit Assurance. It might not be an issue at all, of course, but I thought you should know just in case.

Thanks James, I do like having credit assurance as part of tracking so am waiting to see if this is a problem with Endicia.  If that doesn't work then I'll get PBS to contact the requestor to check their delivery address info.  I was just hoping to be able to mail it with some other books tomorrow morning, but this one will have to wait.

It's possible that it's just a typo on the part of the Requestor, in which case it should be an easy fix. Checking with PBS is a good idea, though, and they might have a better suggestion on how to proceed. If you've never contacted PBS directly, when you're on the Contact Us page, remember to click the Send Us Feedback button. It'll take you to the page from which your message will be sent.

I got pretty quick feedback late last night and they wanted me to keep trying before they contact the receiver.  They mentioned that 'Dovr' is a standard postal abbreviation so it may not be the problem.

As of this morning I'm still getting the notice so it's not printing.  Since I cannot see the rest of the address as of yet, I don't know what the problem might be.

I'm having trouble, too. I can't select PBS postage. No shipping my book today. :(

My says that "your book is over 13 oz and you need to purchase postage at the post office".  HUH?  It says right there that it is 9oz.  I am really confused!

I'm having problems also this morning. It will let me buy Delivery Confirmation but won't let me get the postage.

I tried to print postage with delivery confirmation this morning and it would not print.  I couldn't even check off the green box.  There was no option available for changing the mailing date.  Something isn't working.

Okay, so at least I know I'm not the only one.  Both on PBS and SwapaDVD, I can only print DC, but not printable postage.

It's obvious now that this is an issue with PBS cart for everyone. I can't get the delivery and postage to print - that option is not available at all. The little circle is blocked out so it can't be chosen.

How do we contact PBS to ask them to fix this? I don't want to mail these unless I have both postage and delivery from this site to ensure credit.

Thanks!

Shirley

There's a Contact Us link at the bottom of every page.

If postage is not available on all three sites, they already know about it though, so there's no need for everyone to contact them. It's not likely that PBS can fix the problem or they would have already done it. They get postage from Endicia. When Endicia has a problem, nobody can purchase postage here. Really, you just have to wait it out.

Standalone Delivery Confirmation is not provided by Endicia. DC numbers without postage come from the USPS computers directly. If you are unable to purchase a plain DC wrapper, then the problem is most likely something with the recipient's address. I've seen issues on another site at work where the ZIP code or street name has changed and the old address is actually no longer valid.

Wow, so many today... there was definately a problem with Endicia!

But good news is I was just able to print my label with delivery confirmation.  I didn't attempt to purchase the postage as I'm going to the post office in any case with some heavy books, so I can't confirm if full postage is available yet.

PBS is indeed aware of the problem:

"We're sorry for the inconvenience! Our postage provider, Endicia, is having issues and we have disabled printable postage while things are being sorted out. We expect that they will have their problems solved soon, and we will have printable postage available as soon as they do."

I understand problems with printable postage, but shouldn't we be able to print a normal label?  I can't even do that for the past 2 days.

Hmmm. I just printed a label with postage about 20 minutes ago. Maybe you should try again, Forrest?

I've heard that the problem seems to be fixed now.

I know that ended up not being the issue in this thread, but I have an online business, and over the years I have had a few orders in which the USPS website would not accept the address, but it was successfully delivered.
