This was such an awesome book! I never knew those sorts of things are really happening in today's world but they are!
'Til Death Do Us Part
Driven by moral outrage and deep personal demons, Arizona private investigator Lena Jones enters the brutal world of polygamy when she is hired by a frantic mother desperate to rescue her thirteen-year-old daughter from a polygamist sect on the Utah border. The girl is about to be married to the compound's sixty-eight-year-old leader, Solomon Royal. In a trade brokered by her father in exchange for two sixteen-year-olds.
The snatch goes off without a hitch, until Lena stumbles over the dead body of Brother Royal, and the girl's mother is charged with his murder. To find the real killer, Lena goes undercover as the new "wife" of an inside sympathizer and infiltrates the dark reality of Purity-where misogynistic men and frightened women share a deadly code of silence. As Lena gets closer to the monstrous secret at the compound's heart, the nightmare of her own childhood takes a strange turn as the disparate natures of good and evil converge in shocking new ways.
".......this book could do for polygamy what Uncle Tom's Cabin did for slavery" (Publishers Weekly)
Great read; much info re lives of Mormon women captured into polygamy and unable to escape. Kidnapping and murder add to the suspense.
Arizona investigator, Lena Jones liberates a 13 year-old girl from a
polygamist sect but her intended groom is murdered during the operation.
Great book, Can't even imagine living undercover in a commune of polygamist in order to help out a family.
Great book about Polygamy. Hard to believe that the law allows that kind of thing to go on! I felt very sorry for the women and children living on the compounds.
OMG, this book was AWESOME! The mystery was great with loads of suspects, all of them believable since the characters live at a polygamy compound and are pretty "messed up" in the head. Beyond the mystery, though, I was equally interested in all of the details about polygamists and they way they live- the money aspect, the breeding, and the horrible mistreatment of women. Though I was horrified that people actually live like this in our very own country, learning about it was truly fascinating. Now, don't get me wrong, this is fiction and has a great cast of characters and the plot is strong. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and am eager to read more from this series.
AWESOME book!!! So interesting. The mystery/murder plot is good, but reading about the inner workings of a polygamist compound was even better!!! I LOVED this book. Really didn't know much about polygamists, but this book really explains how things work and you really understand why women don't just up and leave. Very good read for sure!
